"Very nice hotel. Staff very friendly. "
Outstanding resort. very clean rooms. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Would recommend to anyone. the pool bar prepared very good drinks. We did notice that if you had an all inclusive package, the drinks were much weaker. Our daughter and husband had all inclusive package and we tasted their drinks compared to ours. Big difference. Only issues were with food. Breakfast always good. Buffet excellent although pricey. Evening Buffet out in pool area was worst food in complex. Meat was tough. their sauces had no real flavor. Very much over priced. Would not eat there again. The cafe was also good. Their pizza (although not like in US) were very good. Nice touches with room service. Would I come back? I think so, now I know where to eat.

    "Good budget hotel"
My husband and I have mixed reviews of this hotel. Let me first say this was our second trip to Cancun and the first time we stayed at a 5 star adults only all inclusive and it was superb. This hotel has its pros and cons. Food: sushi and pizza by the pool were good. We enjoyed that but even then we were tired of it by the end of our trip. (7 night trip) morning breakfast buffet was ok but same selections day after day got old. Did have an omelette station and waffle station which was nice. rosemarinus at night was good with amazing chips, pico, and guacamole. Pool snacks were pretty good. We felt drinks were a bit watered down and I don't recall ever tasting alcohol in a mixed drink. Only domestic beer. Service: I actually think service was better here than at the Hyatt Zilara where we previously stayed. The waiter by the pool (young guy wish I could remember his name was awesome.) Servers in restaurants were great and bartenders super nice. I felt like they wanted to please us. They deserve to be tipped and sadly I only saw a few others tip. Room: this is their downfall to me. The walls were so thin I could hear the conversations of our neighbors. Only a door separating our rooms. They were a loud family with kids. Bed was hard but manageable. Room was clean and got attention daily. beer, water, soda in room. Pool was nice but hard to get into (no real enterance.) beach too rough in front of hotel. Good budget hotel to get away but prefer the Hyatt Zilara.

    "3/5/16 Overall Average Trip"
We chose this resort because the price was right. I was very wrong. Luckily I did some reviews and found that it does not include the all inclusive pricing. Be sure you factor that addition and add it. Room: we arrived at 1:30 and were told it wasn't ready. We waited by the pool with our luggage. 3:00 came it was ready. We had a ocean view room. We walked in the room was humid, AC didn't work but we aren't big complainers so we just left the door wall open for fresh air. I always check sheets and there were yellow stains everywhere so I requested fresh sheets. After we got back from the pool the same sheets were there except bed was remade... So we got them changed again but waited... Shower had rust stains. TV channels are all Spanish except for two. Food: food was around a 3 out of 10 rating. Cheap, no effort. The best food was the Italian buffet and the reservation restaurants. Oh and make sure you get the chicken tenders! They're to die for. Drinks: all inclusive. Drink all you want have as much as you want. But come with some Pesos to tip your waiter / bar staff if you want them to stay on top of you for refill. I would give them 25-50 pesos to start the day then say I'll give you other half at end. They would be very loyal to you. We came during spring break so lots of drunk kids everywhere. It was nice going to the outdoor malls and lots to sight see. Would go to Cancun again but not this resort.

"Excellence is only half of it!"
Our recent stay of the Excellence Cancun was amazing. We stayed at the Excellence Club section. The additional quiet pool with bar, dedicated staff to lay out our pillows, pool mats, food service, and overall courtesy led to one of our best experiences out of our many all inclusive stays in Mexico and the Caribbean. In addition, the night time restaurants (no dinner buffets) was a great touch, placing this resort one notch above the rest.

"Beautiful resort, beach and wonderful people"
Stayed from 9/03 - 9/13 and had a wonderful time. Resort is beautiful, food is great and the people who work at the resort are extremely sweet and helpful. Just about everything you could possibly want is located within the resort itself. This was our second stay at the Barceló Maya Tropical and we will return, hopefully, for a third vacation.
