    What to Do in Illinois

Kick off your trip by staying at a hotel in Chicago. “The Windy City” is overflowing with activities and attractions to do and see, so get started on your adventure. Head up to Willis Tower and enjoy the best views of the Chicago skyline. Get your jollies by standing on the Skydeck, a glass-enclosed balcony extending 4 feet from the building’s façade. Once the butterflies leave your stomach, get back to street level and devour a deep-dish pizza. Want to wash all that food down with a Prohibition-style cocktail? Try to locate one of the speakeasies scattered throughout the city and order drinks with names like Tuxedo #2, Bee’s Knees, and Southside--the latter was said to be Al Capone’s favorite.

Leave the city slickers behind and head south to Shawnee National Forest. Explore its Little Grand Canyon, hike the Valley of the Gods, and cross the Pomona Natural Bridge. Are you worried about where to stay in the wilderness? Pitch a tent at one of the 13 campsites or upgrade to a cabin rental for a real backwoods experience. If you prefer more modern accommodation, the surrounding towns have some of the better bed and breakfast resorts in Illinois to bunk in.

Come enjoy a Midwestern holiday in “The Land of Lincoln.” Use Travelocity and save up to $537 when you book a hotel in Illinois and flight at the same time. From the central capital of Springfield, to the towering beauty of Chicago, Illinois should be your top choice for your next getaway.

"Low price, convenient, comfy bed, horrific waiter"
I was allowed to check-in early which was a lifesaver. I was so far away from the lobby, I really didn't interact with the front desk so I can't say how their service was; however, I was constantly running into the housekeeping staff and they were cool, not warm. Not a big deal. There was a lot of construction around the facility which was annoying but again, it happens! The restaurant, Mirage, had no bar due to construction so my friend and I sat in a comfy booth to get a beer. A tall, middle-aged man with a deep accent and a grey ponytail never greeted us but instead said, "have a beer/we have this and this on tap". We ordered a couple beers and later my friend inquired about the desserts and mentioned she might want an Old Fashioned. He said that the tiramisu was the best you've ever had to which I replied in a jocular manner, "Oh yes? Do you make it here?" He then says, "No. We buy it. We put it on the plate. But I know what I'm talking about!" I replied, "I don't know..." trying to calm him down. He replies, "Well, you don't know what you're talking about! I don't know where you're from, but you don't know what you're talking about!" My mouth was on the floor. I couldn't believe he was so adamantly rude and condescending. He looks at my friend, "where are you from? Ordering a brandy old-fashioned?!!" She lives in Milwaukee...He says, "That explains it! I knew you were from Wisconsin!" like it was an insult. I decided to never acknowledge him for the rest of the night.

"Great Chicago Hotel - centrally located!"
This was the second time we've stayed at this hotel. Great hotel - clean, easy to travel to, modern rooms - and centrally located so that you're just a quick walk away from Michigan Avenue - or heading the other way, just a quick walk to Millennium Park and the Theater District. Valet parking with in/out privileges. This is just an all-around great hotel and we'll make this our regular spot in Chicago.

    "Good hotel, close to everything!"
I really like the Congress Plaza Hotel. It's a great place for the money, and is close to everything downtown Chicago has to offer. That being said, it isn't the prettiest hotel I've ever stayed in, but is clean and comfortable with a nice staff. The rooms look tired and a little beat up, but everything worked and was clean. The free wifi was a nice bonus. So I would definitely recommend the Congress Plaza, just know to expect an older place when you get there!
