Pleasantly surprised

I wasn't expecting much given the affordable price. However, was very pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff, clean room, comfy bed and continental breakfast. Would stay here again

Dirty

Pros: It was close to where I needed to go
Cons: Up keep, cleanliness, how to deal with customer complaints
Location: North Dallas is a great place. Great food choices.
I found myself telling myself regularly that I was just being "picky", the elevator looked like it had never been cleaned, doors all had scuff marks, a large beetle on our pillow when we got to our room and no water cooler or dispenser. Then the second day i crawled into bed at 11pm, pulled the sheet up around me and noticed a spot. After turning on a brighter light, I determined it was blood. The front desk lady did offer to give us another room, but never apologized or seem at all alarmed. I ended up changing my own sheets because I was too tired to pack my stuff up and move. I lost all confidence that I was laying in a clean bed and didn't sleep well.

Your back will suffer

We were assigned room 414 March 9th and 10th and that was no pillow top mattress. When I went to climb in the wire around the mattress pierced my shin bone. The mattress itself was horrible. Both my husband and I have horrible backaches. Tony, who checked us in was pleasant and very accommodating. The first room we were assigned had a stale odor so he switched our room. In addition to the bad mattress the refrigerator did not work. Other than those two issues the stay was sub average.

Roach hotel

The staff were super helpful and professional but our room had roaches. We felt them crawling on us at night and in the morning they were on the walls and in our bathroom. Nasty! We did get our money back but I rather pay and not sleep with roaches.

Disappointing

Pros: All the 'this isn't working' signs everywhere.
Cons: Most things.
Location: Not worth it; stay elsewhere.
Disappointing experience: New the poor management, employees, and more undesirable guests. Mgmt: * A hotel that runs out of coffee for 24 hours? * Front desk is unattended while the sole attendant goes on break. At 9pm, which is still a very prime check in time. * Elevators and equipment stops working. * A/C not available in some hallways and elevators, and this is Dallas, Texas. * Hotel appeared to be overbooked and the purchased room upgrades were not available. Employees: * Do not appear to be high quality or professional. Bad part of Town: * Very strong marijuana smell permeated the room at checkin. Leaving window open helped, but the sound of nearby US-75 was deafening.

Nice basic accommodations

Pros: Location, large room, clean facilities, accommodating staff.
Cons: Very nice for a basic hotel. Don't expect five star accommodations.
Location: Close to SMU.
My room had a nice firm mattress and a reclining chair. It also had a nice desk, a refrigerator and a microwave oven. It was a handicap room so it was especially roomy. It was not new and fancy but it was clean and they had made an effort to hang nice paintings on the walls. The air conditioner worked really well and was completely controllable by me. I did not use the exercise room or the pool, but they both looked inviting. The staff was helpful and responsive. The breakfast was basic and unimaginative but perfectly acceptable for a basic continental style.

Okay hotel...

Pros: Chose the hotel because of its location and free breakfast.
Cons: Figure out how to honor requests for non-smoking rooms...or a better way to clean those rooms so that it doesn't reak for those who are not accustomed
Location: Hotel was roughly 10 miles from downtown and in close proximity to a gas station. Has several secured entrances for ease with parking.
Usually, La Quinta is a good choice, but not so much this time. Requested a non-smoking king and, unfortunately, was given a room/floor where smoking is more than evident. Did not try to change rooms as it was a 10p check-in and presumed that if a non-smoking room had been available, we would have gotten it. After being out for the day, we were ready to return to our room for a shower and some much needed rest only to return to this smoke filled room. We decided to cut our trip short and checked out a day early. Apparently, the hotel was oversold, so our departure was not (as it appeared) an issue. The upside is that we weren't charged for that night.

NEW EXPERIENCE

This was my fist stay at a LaQuinta property, and I admit I was impressed. I didn't necessarily equate the brand name with a quality property, but this particular location was terrific. It was a new 7 story high-rise building, very clean throughout. It was also very quiet, despite being adjacent to a major expressway. The hotel staff was outstanding - everyone at the front desk was pleasant and helpful, from giving directions to recommending restaurants to just saying good morning. There is a large in-door shopping mall within a mile, and plenty of restaurants to choose from.

good value

this hotel is a good value for the money. good location right off of I-75. friendly staff, nice breakfast, clean enough rooms, and good air conditioning. i brought my dog (at no extra charge) and i declined cleaning service because i didn't want the cleaning crew to have to deal with the dog, so they just dropped off an extra set of towels and toiletries without me asking, which i found very thoughtful.
