A slice of Paris in Florida. A superb boutique hotel with lovely rooms. The staff was exceptional, especially Daniel at the front desk.

Old Classic Hotel

Pros: The exterior, the bar and the location.
My husband and I stayed at the Hotel St. Michel for three nights on our recent trip to Miami/Coral Gables. We were extremely disappointed. The beds were by far the worst I have ever encountered in a nice hotel. After the first night, we expressed our dismay to the manager and she replied that we must be wrong because the beds were new. She said she would check to see if something was wrong with the frame/platform. When we returned that afternoon, the air-conditioning was not working in the room so we were moved (do not read upgraded) to another room that supposedly also had a new bed. This was even worse and my husband ended up trying to sleep on the floor. We considered changing hotels but were only in town for one more day so the last night, I spent the time on the floor. There was really nothing charming about this old hotel. However, the bar, restaurant and the night staff were all wonderful.

Great hotel and location

Pros: Friendly staff, great location, and very comfortable room/bed.
Cons: The breakfast selection was a bit basic and could be expanded considering the room rates. Parking options.
Location: There are plenty of good shops and restaurants nearby along Ponce de Leon and Coral Way/Miracle Mile.
This was my first ever trip to the Miami area, and I chose to stay at Hotel St. Michel because of the location and excellent ratings it has received. I was not disappointed. The hotel is located in the beautiful and safe Coral Gables suburb of Miami. There are great shops and restaurants walking distance from the hotel, but it is also an easy drive to Miami. The staff was friendly, and my room was extremely comfortable. I wish, though, that it offered better parking options. You either park in the street or in a garage across the street. I parked in the street as I found the cost to park in the garage a bit excessive.

Very charming

Pros: Location, character, charm & staff were all great.
Cons: More usable surface space in room, antique sowing machine was beautiful but not practical as only space for ice bucket and cups, should be in hall
Location: plenty of places to eat and drink in the area.
This hotel is very charming, very friendly staff, historic building with comfortable rooms but a bit in disrepair. Needs a little TLC but that didn't take away from its charm. Would recommend this hotel if you do not need the latest in creature comforts found in more modern hotels like a mini fridge or bright lighting in the bathroom or extra counter space.
