Awful

My reserved room was given away and there were no more vacancies so I was sent across to the parking lot to the Days Inn that was also owned by the group managing Travelodge. They had to downsize my bed selection, but offered nothing to offset my inconvenience. The staff didn't even apologize that my reservation wasn't held. They made me feel like I was a huge inconvenience for them which I found extremely irritating - I had already paid my entire stay in advance and they were treating me like it was my fault that they double booked my room. The room itself was tiny and bug infested. I saw cockroaches and spiders daily. The outlets were worn out and plugs just kept falling out of the outlets. I was worried about charging my electronics with such bad connections. The door key never worked with the first try. A member of the cleaning crew showed me that I needed to quickly swipe my door key several times to get the door to unlock. The inroom safe didn't work, but I wasn't comfortable leaving valuables in that room anyway. This was one of the worst stays I've ever had. I stuck around simply because I couldn't afford to go elsewhere and was under enough stress due to the trip itself. I didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to end my stay there early and try to get a partial refund to go somewhere else. I went in with low expectations, but was hoping I'd at least be treated with some decency considering how much money I had already paid.

Roach Hotel

Location: Silver Springs itself was nice. Plenty of eateries. Right next door and a straight shot into DC.
Literally a roach hotel. Travelodge would be well advised to remove their name from this dump. Sink was clogged. Mini pillows. Trash behind the bed. TV reception was bad. I didn't take a shower or leave anything in the drawers for fear of taking home these little critters. Slept with my clothes on. Got the hell out of at daybreak. Zero stars.

Not very good.

Plugs next to sink did not work, tv reception poor, and in general in need of upgrading and remodeling.

Horrible and worst full of roaches

Pros: Nothing is good here. Please do not book this. When I turned on the light, at least 20 or so roaches were on the floor.
Cons: When I turned on the light, at least 20 or so roaches were on the floor and in the bath tub. Will be watching for signs of bed bugs on my body.
Location: Near to Silver Spring

DISGUSTING!

Pros: Absolutely NOTHING.
Cons: Revoke the franchise.
Location: Downtown Silver Spring has some nice restaurants and shopping and is located right near the metro to go into D.C.
I wish I could have given this a zero. To get to our room, we had to move the smelly trash cans out of the stairwell entrance and step over the muck. Once in the room we found: • huge stains all over the rug and it was FILTHY (we refused to take off our shoes) • the sink faucet wouldn't shut off • exposed, unfinished wall board on what we think was a boarded up window • exposed electrical panel • missing fixtures in the bathroom • "rerouted" electrical that was really an extension cord run under the stained run • one of the light fixtures was missing a light bulb, but the hotel clerk didn't have any and doesn't have keys to any sort of supplies Smaller issues : • tiny, square throw pillows instead of regular full-size ones • burn marks on the furniture and ironing board (in a non-smoking room) • no closet doors • dirty, wrinkled curtains with paint and other stains that looked as if they'd been wadded up in a corner for weeks • the room was over a Subway restaurant. We weren't there long enough to see cockroaches, but there are other reviews here that mention them.

This hotel made me feel bad

Pros: Free Internet
I am very sorry but this has been the worst hotel that I have ever been. If I had known tnat how this hotel was I would not have booked in it. The bathroom was terrible. The service was poor, the people around was not OK. It wasn't cleaned. Summarizing: a bad experience.

Location good, clientele not so good

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
Cons: Noisy, clientele less than desirable
Proximity to downtown Silver Spring was great. The room was adequate, though getting the AC to work was a bit of a mystery, as all of the text had been worn off. The biggest downside is that this motel is primarily used as a residence, and there were some odd people hanging out and a very creepy vibe. I had to move from my first room because the person next door had a very loud stereo playing. The next room was mostly quiet, and adequate for an overnight stay. I would not want to have to come and go late at night there

There was mold in my hotel room.

Pros: Free Internet
Cons: Nothing close, Noisy
The staff at the hotel were nice. There is a subway downstairs, which is convenient. However, the room did smell of mold, and there was visible mold growing in the corners along the carpet. I would not stay here again.
