Can't go wrong

Posted Jul 10, 2016
Very comfortable room, coffee downstairs , umbrellas available, superb location, very capable staff, our second stay here.. Good value. Many restaurants, cafes, and shopping just minutes away.. A CTA pass and a Uber app on your phone is all you need to explore Chicago.

Not worthy of a 4-star "upscale" rating

Posted Jul 2, 2016 on Expedia
Pros: Even though the bed was not a king as advertised, it was very comfortable, but the pillows were horrible.
Cons: Everything if it is gonna claim to be a 4-star hotel, but cleaning the windows would be a start!
Location: It was a decent location, but there was no prominent info in the hotel room that advertised/recommended anywhere to go.
Reading the definition of a 4 start "Upscale " hotel, This hotel falls extremely short! The TINY lobby had a connecting restaurant, so I guess that counts, Yes, they had valet parking which cost an extra $65 (PER DAY!! - which was not explained - I was under the impression it was the total of my stay (2 nights) ) OR I could park my car myself (in their garage) for only $46, I thought 'what the hay, I'll chip in an extra $20 to have them park it and bring it to me'.. We walked everywhere so if I had known it was per day, I would have found one of those garages that only charge $20 per day) There was no bell staff- though one of the valet's did open the hotel door for us - woohoo, no dedicated concierge, and the room service was not 24 hour - we always order breakfast at least one of the days, but the menu was lacking so badly we decided against it. The bathroom was tiny, with a toilet straight out of a public restroom, with a big push handle. It did have a minibar, with no instructions on how to get into it. No Spa, No Pool. The "King size" bed was a full/ double at best. There were two bathrobes that were not soft, and looked were so worn and old, we left them hanging in the closet. The Front desk supervisor who checked us in the first night was rude and unfriendly, however the clerk who checked us out was really nice. The windows in our room were filthy, so disgusting we couldn't even open the shades to let light in.

Amazing location! All shops and sights nearby (walking distance). Room was clean and relatively new.

Väldigt fint hotel mitt i Chicago

Posted Jul 2, 2016 on Hotels
Mycket fint hotell. Det har mycket olika bekvämligheter, men allt kostar. Det ligger väldigt centralt i Chicago och det gör att parkering är rätt dyrt. Hotellet har Valet parking, men det kostar $65 per dygn. I övrigt mycket bra

How is this a 4 star hotel?

Posted Jul 1, 2016 on Hotels
My family and I stayed here for a weekend in Chicago, and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. This was definitely not a 4 star hotel experience. Upon entering the room we immediately noticed an odd odor and the peeling wallpaper on the wall outside the bathroom. The carpet was dirty, and the bathroom was worse. The shower had black colored mold/mildew and the ceiling above the shower was peeling. The bed sheets were dirty and my wife noticed someone's short curlys when she pulled back the covers. The ceiling in the bedroom had obvious water damage that had discolored and disfigured a portion of the ceiling above the TV. I let the front desk know about the room's rundown condition. They said they had no availability to move us, but did send maintenance to add a layer of caulking around the tub to cover-up a portion of the mold/mildew. Not exactly the deep cleaning it needed. The next day a manager moved us to another room. But instead of a room with 2 beds which we booked, our only option was a room with 1 bed for my wife, child, and I to share. The new room was cleaner than the first, but this was not the stay we had hoped for. Upon checkout I was told another manager would be in touch with us to make things right, but I have yet to speak to anyone from the hotel.
