Great location bad room

Pros: Location, location, location.
Cons: They need to improve the air conditioner at least in this specific room, and they should discount the cost of the specific room.
Location: The pedestrian mall has everything from bars to restaurants to stores. Very impressive.
The location of this hotel is perfect. You walk right out onto the pedestrian mall which is the happening place in Charlottesville. I've stayed at many Omni's and their rooms are usually quite nice but this one failed to live up to my expectations. I think it was the specific room I was in (701) because it is at the end of the hall and therefore the corner of the hotel. Though it provides two views, the room is misshaped causing a loss of usable space. It also has a queen bed even though I specifically booked a king bed. To the hotels defense, it was the UofV -- Notre Dame football weekend so it and every other hotel in the city were sold out. The air conditioner never was able to get the room cool, and though the room temp was comfortable the fan was noisy on both high and low, so the constant running was annoying.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Omni Charlottesville Hotel. As you mentioned, due to our odd shape, awkward corner rooms are inevitable. I am sorry you found yours to be uncomfortable for the duration of your stay. I do hope we get the chance of you staying with us again.

Great Hotel. Beautiful. Great staff BUT...

Cons: Change all the toilets!!!!!!
This is a beautiful hotel and the staff was great. Location is good too. Very clean and comfortable BUT (women should stop reading now. This is for men only) Guys, I am a normal size person with normal endowments, but when I sat on the toilet my genatalia was in the water!! The commode was low and this was a really gross experience. I would never stay in this hotel again or any other Omni. The toilet is an Elger brand. Whoever chose these toilets must have been a woman. You have been warned!

Excellent Choice in Charlottesville

We are very happy we chose the Omni. Location, location, location--right at one end of the downtown pedestrian mall, with a plethora of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. Rooms were comfy, and the service was excellent. The only nits we had were thin walls (which made for one uneasy night with a noisy neighbor), and a closet door that stuck. But everything else was great, the TVs, the in room safe, the food and drink options, and especially the free parking. A very good choice if you are in the area.

Good . . . But

Check-in/out smooth and cordial. Spacious, quiet bedroom with comfortable bed. Bathroom was claustrophobic--smallest I have EVER encountered in a hotel/motel! Shower temperature extremely difficult to modulate. Location is adjacent to downtown pedestrian mall w/lots of shops, restaurants, etc. That is especially handy because hotel restaurant has limited menu that is very pricey. $* daily charge for internet (free at Motel 6, etc.) but there is a free public access wi fi on pedestrian mall. Nice business center w/two computers, printer, etc. Covered parking is a plus in inclement weather. All in all, a mixed bag. Nice room, lousy bathroom, friendly staff, overpriced add-ons.

Great Location

Some reviews stated "not worth the price". Well ok, but what your paying for is location, and this place couldn't be located in a better place. While there are a couple of hotels that are less expensive, none put you right on the MALL like the Omni. Plus, getting to Montecello couldn't be easier. It's only about a 15 minute ride away. A couple of previous reviewers stated the sheets were rough. Uh? The sheets were just fine, and the bed was darn nice too. Staff was very pleasent and helpful, and the room was clean. No, it's not the Four Seasons, but it's a very nice hotel in a college town. There are plenty of places on and just off the Mall to eat. On the Mall, the Nook has an inexpensive menu for breakfast. Also on the Mall, was Baggby's where your order for lunch is taken on a brown paper bag, and delivered to you in that same bag. Sandwiches made here are great. The locals line up at lunch time at Baggby's. Great Italian food can be had at Sal's Caffe on the Mall. While the wait can be a little longer than other places for your food to arrive, you'll be glad you toughed it out. The food is excellent. If your in the mood for craft beer and a burger, South Street Brewery one block off the Mall has great burgers and beer. As I said before, while the Omni Hotel is a little more expensive than other places, It's a very nice hotel, in a great location and puts you where all the action in Charlottesville takes place.
