Excellent

The staff was helpful and polite. The rooms were clean. The bed was comfortable. The food was great. The hotel is close to several restaurants and a quick drive to the center of town. I had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone visiting Charlottesville.

Overall, great stay!

Pros: Location, staff, cleanliness
Cons: Humidity in the gym, bigger nightstands, lights that could be controlled with switches.
Location: It's near downtown Charlottesville, so you are near UVA, Monticello, Wineries, and downtown Charlottesville shopping and restaurants.
I had a very pleasant experience at the Hilton Garden Hotel. The staff is friendly, the location is great, and the rooms are spacious. The gym is open 24hrs, which was great for my early schedule. The rooms are a bit awkward, with no drawers, no light switches (I had to manually turn on and off all lights), and the night stands were abnormally small. The gym is also next to the hot tub, which made the room humid, but made for a great sweat session. However, everything was clean and comfortable. Overall, a great stay!

GREAT SLEEP AND GREAT SCENERY

Pros: Breakfast, service and scenery
Cons: bigger beds but thats it.
Location: Small town, so just google good eats in town and be ready to walk around, eat, and explore the history around the area.
Short and simple, it was a great place to stay at, although the King rooms felt like they beds were Queen size. Over all the stay was great, the staff was always ready to help, they actully give us another room with two queens free of charge and three days free of their delicious breakfast. The scenery was also great, they have lack in the back with a walk path that goes around it, a romantic setting for the wife and I. Would go back any time if we're in the area!

Lovely hotel on beautifully manicured grounds.

My travel partner fell and shuttle staff provided wheelchair, ride to ER and return ride at 2 am. Southern hospitality beyond expectation Pampered us until she left to fly home. Rides to and from local attractions around community made our stay extra enjoyable.

The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet
The Hilton Garden Inn was comfortable and the room was perfectly clean. The hotel setting was very pretty - our room overlooked a pond containing swans, geese and herons. I felt that for the price we paid a continental breakfast should have been provided instead of costing an extra $6 / person. The bed had adjustable firmness settings, and was fine once I got it set correctly.

Clean sheets AND comforter

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, clean duvet
Desk personnel were friendly (except one with an unsmiling "attitude"), knowledgeable and helpful. The cafe area was too bright and uninviting. Lighting in the room was CFLs, which gave the otherwise pleasant room a cold environment. They should get "warmer" versions. However, the yellow wallpaper in the bathroom warmed up the bulb color to a very pleasant "daylight". The room was spotless, but a bulb was out on one of the lamps (I didn't mention it to the front desk). The bathroom was not quite as spotless, with a hair or two in the corner and black finger marks on the door and door frame. Maybe made by a plumber with dirty hands? Free Wi-Fi was intermittent and slow. Based on the packed parking lot, I presume the hotel was close to capacity on at least one of the nights I was there... but sound proofing was so good, I wouldn't have known it. Even hall vacuuming was muffled down to barely noticeable. The mattress was very comfortable. I did comment to the front desk about this... they clean the sheets AND the duvet (comforter cover)! I felt very comfortable to spread out on top of the bed, and read, watch TV, etc. In my experience, that's unique. I do not know of any other hotel that does that, and as far as I'm concerned, that and the soundproofing will keep me as a customer.

Great stay

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet
Excellent stay for the money. Looked like they had good breakfast but had to leave before they started serving. Good location. We just stayed for the night and would stay there again. Nice room. Friendly people.

Best hotel breakfast ever!

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Charlottesville on December 5, 2009. It was clean, quiet and comfortable and everyone was very friendly. Big surprise was the FULL breakfast bar. The food was wonderful--light biscuits, savory gravy, excellent grits, eggs made to order, fresh cantelope, pineapple, and strawberries. It was a happy time.

This is a Hilton?

We booked 1 month in advance 2 bed nonsmoking room. When we got there we got 1 bed and a smoking room! The staff was not helpful at all. I have stayed at Hiltons in other cities, even ioverseas and I just have to say this Hilton is NOT a Hilton. The outside looks like a Comfort Sutie. The Cleanliness was really bad, room service trays were left in the hall way for at least a day. Charlottesville is a great place to visit, but please try to stay somewhere other than this Hilton, it's not worth it. There are other fine Hotels in Charlottesville to stay, and my next trip to Charlottesville, I will be staying in one of the others.

Nice hotel; nice value

My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Charlottesville Hilton. It is modern and up-to-date. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast coupons for a lovely breakfast buffet and the pool. The staff was friendly; the room was comfortable. We also noticed the nice extra touches, such as a chocolate chip cookie jar that was available in the afternoon, the exercise path that circles the ponds behind the hotel and the business center that we used to research our activities in the area.
