This place is fabulous! My 2nd time in La Fortuna, and my 2nd time staying at Hotel Lomas del Volcan! The location is amazing, it's about 1 mile off the main street, so you have to drive on a brick / dirt road through a farm to get to the hotel, but it honestly adds to the experience! The hotel grounds are amazing, super well kept and beautiful! The rooms, pool, hot tub, bar, restaurants all facilities are newer, clean, and gorgeous! When I go back to La Fortuna again someday, there will not be a doubt where I will be staying! The Hotel feels like it's right at the base of the Volcano, and they even have a private hiking trail that leads up through the jungle. We were able to see Monkeys & Toucan's on our visit here too.

Beautiful hotel grounds in a great location!

Pros: Individual bungalow rooms!
Location: Perfect location, 12 minutes from LaFortuna Waterfall & 30 minutes from Arenal Volcano!
I stayed here for two nights and was thrilled with the accommodations and the hotel location. The hotel sits off the main about 1.5 miles, which isolates it a little. The hotel grounds are beautiful and it feels less commercial than the rest of the area. It's ideally located close to LaFortuna Waterfall & Arenal Volcan so plan for these activities! I had a nice bungalow room, with two double beds, a large bathroom, and a private deck off the back of the bungalow. These are basically small cabins, and it was perfect! I would definitely go back!

Beautiful grounds and view of Fortuna Volcano

Everything was absolutely awesome about this place. Breakfast is included. I will say that I did get sick one day right after breakfast; just make sure your eggs are cooked well; otherwise I will go back and I will eat there as well. It is very close to town of La Fortuna (like 3 - 5 minutes) and right in the middle of all the activities. Make sure to visit Tabacon hot springs; well worth ticket for one day. Also, mountain biking, hiking at the federal park (incredible rain forest), Zip lining, hanging bridges, etc.

Comfortable accommodations. Great staff.

Pros: The forest behind our bungalow and the staff were the highlights. The view of the volcano while you ate breakfast was great.
Cons: There could be a little more variety for breakfast. Pave the road in!!
Location: There were restaurants close by and most activities we did were within a half and hour drive. The location was good.
We booked an economy room and a bungalow. The economy room was acceptable for 2 teenage boys, and the bungalow worked well for my wife and I. We had a limited view of the volcano, but it was covered by clouds most of our stay. The forest behind our bungalow had a sloth in the tree for two days and we sat and watched numerous parakeets and toucans fly through. That was really enjoyable. The breakfast was adequate, but not a tremendous amount of variety. Plenty of fresh pineapple and omelets with a couple of choices. The staff at the front desk was great. Very helpful with directions and tour reservations.

Convenient, beautiful hub for all nearby actvities

Very helpful friendly staff. Excellent breakfast with a good variety. Lunch and dinner was nice there also. Most of the staff understand English. Open air restaurant with magnificent views of the volcano.
