The setting is gorgeous. The facility is very nice. Very well maintained. We only encountered two staff people who were friendly and welcoming. Mostly, we felt like they didn't want to be bothered. Not a huge deal, because it is close by (within a block or so), but the restaurant and lounge are in a separate building. Just not real convenient when you've been in the car for ten hours.

Gregg thank you for taking the time to write a review of Old Kinderhook. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the gorgeous settings. The Trophy Room and The Hook are in separate buildings. They have been here since 1999 along with the golf way before the hotel was built. The hotel was built 7 years ago. When you visit the Old Kinderhook again, we have golf carts that one of our staff will be happy to give you a ride to and from The Trophy Room.

There’s a reason this resort is called OLD Kinderhook…it’s old. And it’s tired. The grounds are beautiful. The hotel is another thing…it is dark and worn and dirty along the walls and carpet. The staff generally reflects the facility—nobody seemed excited to be working. The room walls we were in were smudged. The place smells like a gym as they have lots of sports players there. Anyway, we won’t return.

I’ve stayed here many times and I have enjoyed it many times. The highlights: the pools, the room is clean and nice, and the nice weekend security guy. He’s got EXCELLENT customer service skills. My kids remembered him from previous visits. The low points: the evening desk host on 6/12/21 (exceptionally rude and not dressed professionally), not a lot of food options-lunch and dinner and the limited pillows on bed. Would I stay here again, absolutely, would I hope to not run into the rude desk person-most definitely. I’m glad everyone else there is AMAZING because if she had been my only staff experience there, this review would be very different. Hopefully she is nicer than how she treated me and several other customers.

Thank you for choosing Old Kinderhook. We appreciate the feedback and hope to see you on your next visit. We have addressed the issues with the employee and apologize for the attitude. We look forward to your next visit. As far as the food option issues we are in a position on Mondays and Tuesday to have to close The Trophy Room due to the shortage of staff. We have the head chef leave and take 3 of the cooks with him. We are in the process of hiring a new Executive Chef. So our staff are working 5 days a week with Monday and Tuesdays off. Thank you for understanding.
