Bad customer service. Unsanitary room and bathroom

Posted Aug 19, 2017 on Hotels
They treated me like a second class citizen and I'm white female professional in my 30s. My hotel room smelled like cigarettes which was not pleasant since I'm a non-smoker. The air conditioning unit was loud and rattled entire time. The toilet bowl was gross and had feces encrusted on the exterior of it. The walls in the room were sprayed with coffee stains and other gross substances. I travel to New York a lot, this is the worst hotel experience. I booked through Hotels.com and my reservation wasn't ready for an hour a half because the systems didn't sync up. I had to wait in the lobby and a desk attendant suggested I go wait in the bar lounge area. I sat on a comfy couch and slipped my flips flops off. I was not in an eating area and was watching the staff setup game night. It was amusing to watch. All of a sudden one of the male managers rushed up to me and said "put your shows on this is a restaurant".. and stormed off. I told him I wouldn't even be in the area had my reservation been ready. I then stood in line and with two sets of people in front of me to see if my reservation was ready again. A couple not in line cut in line. A male desk attendant walked over and rudely pointed to an area we should have been standing to make a point. I told him we told told to stand here. He didn't say a word and just rudely walked away. The only nice people were the women desk attendants. They were friendly and helpful. The males who work here are rude and unprofessional.

Excellent location, good value

Only two blocks south of Central Park and about a 20 minute walk from Penn Station this hotel was really convenient. A few minutes walk from shopping on 5th Avenue and an easy walk to loads of sights. We booked a basic room but were given a bigger corner room which was spacious enough for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Nice hotel. All the facilities you would expect, clean, quiet (on the inside, New York isn't quiet on the outside!) and lots of places to eat nearby. The Market Place (where you can get take out coffee, croissant etc) was great and convenient but very expensive ($30 for 3 drinks and 3 croissants). Go next door for greater choice at half the price.

Great location

Pros: Convenient location, interior design, staff.
Location: Perfect location for getting anywhere, taxi and subway just out door.
Hotel is two blocks south of Central Park, Carnegie Hall is across street. Hotel is surrounded by restaurants and there is no problem finding places to eat. A Starbucks is right next door on corner. The location is perfect for walking anywhere. Staff is very accommodating and room cleaning staff does a great job first thing in a.m. so that when guests return later in day room is made up and perfect. Handy transportation directly at hotel entrance, easy to get taxi as they are sitting in front. 57th St. subway station is right there also. Hotel is extremely busy with the guests a mix of Americans and many European countries. Believe hotel had a complete renovation very recently. Very modern and sleek lobby with guest rooms to match. Would stay there again.

Favorite place

This is our go-to hotel in NYC, if prices are reasonable (depending on the season). Always clean, beautiful, and a perfect location. I wish they would have a few more people at the check-in desk in the evening, but excellent service and beautiful accommodations. Beautiful bar in the lobby with great service.

Nice, average hotel. The rooms were decent but the bathroom showers were quite small.
