Winner of Most Disgusting Hotel

Pros: Free Internet
Cons: Nothing close, Noisy, Poor breakfast
Non-smoking room that smelled like smoke, no laundry anywhere on premises and no help from the staff, doors that open to a highway and a broken window. Woke up to the dumpster being smacked repeatedly against the garbage truck. Pool not in use ever. Breakfast was poor and coffee was undrinkable. If you are looking for a bargain this is not worth it...spend the extra and don't stay here.

Not worth it

Cons: Nothing close, No free Internet, Noisy, Poor breakfast
Just not worth the hassale or the sleepless night or the street traffic noise (Police sirens, trains etc.)

Room provided was expected for us who needed to have a place to sleep

Good. Everything in order. Water did not taste good when used with coffee. Ended up buying bottled water. Overall stay was good

Location and comfort

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
This hotel offered a great room, a great breakfast and an affordable price for the DC area. It was located close to the subway station and great restaurants.

Not so great

Hotel is off the beaten track, not near any metro station. The room wasn't very nice. For instance, there was very little toilet paper. Also, the rooms open onto the outside, and the hotel is right by a major road, so it is noisy.

Cockroaches and no room cleaning

The first night we had cockroaches. I called Travel Website and they were not at all helpful except to call the manger of the hotel. They would not help us find a different hotel and give us a refund for the one we had booked through them The hotel sprayed the next day and no more were seen. The last evening we returned - sheets and blankets on the floor, luggage moved around, bathroom was not cleaned and trash not emptied. They offered to let us move to another room but we would have had to move ourselves. There was nobody on duty that knew how to make a bed (!) so we were given sheets and towels and had to do it ourselves. I called Travel website and they called the manager. We were given only a 50% discount on the last night. Shame on both Travel website and the hotel for this terrible customer service. You have lost my business for ever.

They overbooked and sent me to bed bugs

I arrived and asked to check in at about 10:45 pm only to be told that they had overbooked. I had booked a non smoking, two bed room about a month earlier but was instead told that my reservation had been moved to the Motel 6 down the street. When I asked if that would be cheaper I was told that it was the same price. Motel 6 = Howard Johnson? So reluctantly I went to the Motel 6. The staff at the desk seemed confused as to why I was there but eventually gave me the only room they had. I walk up to the room to see that it was a one bed, smoking room. Cigarette butts still on the ground, a missing chain lock for the door and a toilet that leaked out of the bottom. To top it all off, when I pulled the covers back to hit the hay, there were bed bugs! I got out of there immediately and was directed back to the Howard Johnson by the Motel 6 staff. I returned and was told that I would need to call travel website to ensure that I received a refund. While I realize that I did not stay in the Howard Johnson but they should not have sent me to such a horrible room which had none of what I wanted!

overcharged - their mistake

I was overcharged by $1*. When I returned home, checked my credit card charges online and found this discrepancy, I called the hotel on Thursday, 9/23/10. Even though I had my confirmation number and receipt in hand, I was told that only the manager could help me and that he would not be available until Monday, 9/27. I am very dissatisfied with this situation. Also, the electrical outlet which had the coffee machine and the hair dryer power cords stapled beside it did not work. Other electrical outlets in the room did work, but, again, the power cords were stapled to the wall and would not reach another outlet.
