Close to many nice features of Boston

Posted Aug 30, 2015
Pros: The lobby felt special upon entering, and our room was quite pleasing and comfy. It's centrally located too. It's just the noise that was the problem
Cons: I guess someone has to have that room... :-(
Location: Across from Boston Commons & the Public Gardens, Newbury St.'s galleries & shopping, walking distance to Fanuil Hall & the Statehouse, near metro stop
The hotel was quite nice, much better than I was expecting after reading other reviews about the rooms. Our room was lovely, but it was directly across from an extremely loud clunking ice maker and diagonally across from the elevators, which regularly offloaded noisy guests until the wee hours of the morning.

Boston Park Plaza

Posted Aug 4, 2015
Pros: Most of the staff was wonderful.
Cons: My room reeked.
Location: Close to everything in the Back Bay area.
Boston's Park Plaza is an older grand hotel that is in the Back Bay area close to Boston Commons. The staff did their best to get us early check in and change our room from one kind to two doubles. The only issue I had with our room was the smell. It smelled like mold/mildew/cigarette smoke covered with a nasty de-orderizer. I should have asked for a different room. The room itself was very comfortable and most of the staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered from room service, was over billed and one of our dinners was missing. I called room service and though trying to explain that the prices on the room service menu were different and that we were missing one meal, was met with a very rude hostile woman staff member. The next day the front desk reversed the overcharges and comped me one meal. Overall, most of the staff was excellent, and the room was fairly comfortable, but our experience was varied. I would not discourage anyone from booking there, I cannot recommend it. But if you do stay there and you run into problems, talk with the front desk immediately.

Please let us take this opportunity to express our remorse for your recent visit to the Boston Park Plaza. We hope that you will give the Boston Park Plaza another opportunity to show you the fine service and accommodations we are capable of providing and that you'll think of us the next time you visit Boston.

Great bed for sleeping; not a place to hang out

Posted Jul 29, 2015
Pros: Beds
Cons: Tiny bathrooms - probably cannot be improved.
Location: Very close to The Common and the Theater District.
This is a great old hotel close to The Common. With a queen-sized bed, the room size was fine. The bathroom is very small - one person at a time - and minimal lay-down space. We were there to visit family, so for a place to shower and sleep, it was fine.

Nice Hotel

Posted Jul 26, 2015
This is a beautiful hotel in close proximity to the park, shopping and dining. This is a very upscale area so prices are higher. The hotel is older and more posh, but very clean and welcoming.

Overpriced for no reason.

500.00 a night for a room that had chipped paint, old furniture, stinky carpet, cracked ceilings and a bathroom that still had 20 year old tiles with a home depot bathtub.. its crazy how overpriced this hotel is

Pros: LOcation
The hotel lobby was very nice and comfortable; however, the room was very run down and cramped. Electrical outlets bad. Bathroom very old.

Nice hotel - surprising fees and airport transport

Posted Jul 3, 2015
Pros: History - staff
Cons: clearer indications of fees and explain the transportation
Location: Yankee lobster was great!
Never knew that internet was paid by the minute. Also we were under the impression there was airport transportation provided by the hotel. This was not true. Had to take a cab.

Close to the T and Boston Commons

Posted Jul 2, 2015
Arrived early, room not ready, forgot phone at home = immediate check in and upgrade. Great start! A few blocks for dining, shopping, wandering the Commons. Doable from Logan on the T but lots of steps in an older transit system. This is an older (1924) property, ie, the rooms are on the smaller side (my bathroom was tiny!) but it is clean and well kept with a friendly staff. I thought the price for the room was high but Boston is clearly an expensive city. I would stay again.
