Older Motel near the ski area

Pros: Friendly staff, good breakfast
Cons: fresh paint, new toilet seats, clean the furniture!
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room is plain, minimal furniture; the night stand is lower than the bed so you can't see the alarm clock from the bed. Needs fresh paint, the toilet seat was cracked with wood showing; very unsanitary! The chair is very stained. The bed was ok. The breakfast was pleasant and had a nice variety.

Close to the Pacific Crest Trailhead.

Pros: We didn't encounter much of the staff, but those that we did were super nice. The room was comfortable and clean.
Cons: The continental breakfast was nice and well laid out. The only thing that might improve that would be take advantage of local bakeries pastries.
Location: We were there for the PCT but lots of water activities and hiking, biking around the lake, and good shopping in the Village.
We arrived in Big Bear a little sooner than we figured and the desk clerk let us check in before the 3:00 check in time. That was really nice of him. Turned out that he was from my home town, so we had a good connection. The room was a lot bigger than we figured it would be. That was a nice surprise. We chose this location because its close to the Pacific Crest Trailhead and easy to get to.

Heater/ac unit needed repair at a minimum. The temperature dial was completely broken and only setting that worked was the fan feature. Outside temp was 90 or so by day and 50 or so by night. Otherwise ok place-nothing special.

Nice, cozy hotel

Pros: Quiet area and perfect to relax!
Cons: The rooms need a little bit of upgrade, but they were very clean and cozy.
Location: Boulder Bay Park is close by, boat rentals, and the Big bear Shopping area/restaurants. We also went to the Big Bear Lake Zoo, fun place!
We only stayed for one night and the pricing and service were excellent. Visited with my husband and toddler, having the breakfast included was great! Good variety of breakfast options (bagels, cereal, fruit, tea, coffee, milk, juice, etc) Would definitely stay there again. Very friendly staff.

What a dive

The caretakers of this hotel need major help.  They were so sweet.  I should have known when we arrive and we sign the paper saying that you will abide by the rules the first thing is there is no maid service.  Okay, whatever.   But when get into our room, the desk drawer had some pink medicine stuff all over the drawer, including the empty bottle and the little syringe thingie for it.  Then there was a dirty towel on the shelf in the closet (which there was no pole to hang your clothes up on).  Then one of the beds had someone else's hair in it.  So when they say no maid service, they aren't kidding.  The spa was not working, the pool was not heated.  They had to get a remote from one of the other rooms because our room did not have one.   Just saying I know we did not pay a lot for the room and were not expecting much' but a clean room would have been a nice beginning.  Warning, be careful.
