"Great view of the Marina"
I would definitely recommend the Marina view, especially from the 2nd or 3rd floor. Nice to watch the sun rise. The rooms are really small but they are comfortable. Really enjoyed the balcony overlooking the marina. We ate breakfast two days in the restaurant and it was fantastic. Nice little beach with firepits for the evenings. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

"Beautiful property with lots to see and do!"
Very clean resort in a great location. The grounds are well kept and scenic. Lots to do in and around the property- pool, beach, boating, biking, relaxation. Oceana (on site restaurant) is a must go! Easy drive to San Diego Zoo, Legoland, Balboa Park, Downtown.

"Nice tropical hotel"
The hotel was very nice. It was clean and beds were very comfortable. The grounds were beautiful, we felt like we were in the tropics, with the palm trees, birds of paradise and even plumeria. They also provided a shuttle bus to Sea World which was the main reason for our trip. I do have one disappointment, that was that the gift shop was more of a fashion boutique. There was no place on the grounds to buy snacks, drinks or toiletries, other than outside vending machines. This was a challenge being we did not have our own transportation. There were no near by restaurants or stores with in walking distance other than the Firefly which is on the hotel grounds. If you have you own transportation or are willing to take a cab everywhere, this is an awesome place to stay. Beautiful, comfortable and a nice view of the bay.

"Overall this was a very pleased stay"
Pros: amazing location for the price. Right on Mission Bay, a quarter mile from the main part of mission beach. Quick access to anything in San Diego Bed was very comfortable Full size fridge Small stove Room was nearly spotless, one little sticky spot on the carpet Nice pool and hot tub Excellent restaurant by hotel standards Wait staff was very friendly Cons: the free boat ride was a little lame, but it was free so no big deal Room had a faint mustiness Rentals are overpriced The hotel is a bit older so there were not as many modern touches

"Beautiful piece of paradise"
The resort is absolutely stunning with lush tropical vegetation all around you, as soon as you reach the resort you feel like you have landed in Hawaii. There are plenty of activities around the resort including putt putt golf, basketball, tennis paddle boarding, kyaking, segway and boat rentals. For the adults there is no shortage of adult beverages and pools close by. The dining is top notch with plenty of choices.

"A Nice Place to Stay"
We wanted a quiet place to stay near the Marina so we could walk over and watch the July 4th Fireworks in the Harbor. It was Great. The rooms are newly renovated and comfortable. Having a Kitchen was Brilliant because Shelter Island area was Girdlocked until Midnite. We cooked ourselves a Great Meal and relaxed. Thanks

"Late arrival-perfect accomodation."
I arrived 10 hours behind schedule due to airplane problems. Desk staff put me in best room at the resort. Fantastic, beautiful suite. Exceptional service. It was a business trip. Wish I could have stayed more than one night.

"Nice place to stay"
Very nice resort located on Shelter Island in San Diego. We stayed in a marina view room and we were surrounded by boats. It was very nice. Very quiet. We had a balcony that overlooked the Marina. We enjoyed sitting outside. Also the street that this resort is located is a long cul de sac so you can walk and feel safe at night. The staff was very nice. I had a quick breakfast at the restaurant inside and it was good and reasonable priced considering it's a hotel restaurant. There is plenty of parking, some spots in the front of the resort and the. More located in a covered garage. It's about a 5-10 minute ride to the airport and Point Loma Navy base. Maybe 15-20 from downtown depending on traffic.

"good value, but tragically hip"
In it's desperate attempt to be hip, The Pearl forgets some of the standard sophistication generally seen in hotels of all quality today. My first biggest disappointment was the lack of soap in the room for my full 5-day stay. Soap is an amenity that even the scummiest of places provide, but here the staff suggested I go buy my own since they were out. Secondly, the restaurant staff at the hotel were clueless and clearly untrained in how to seat people. I was told I could not be sat at a two-top being just a single, which is unheard of; then the hostess told me to stand at the host station and wait for a bar stool while other customers swooped into empty stools directly at the bar. I ended up leaving. Finally, the rooms are nice, but there are some things that have not been updated since the mid-century, such as the shower, plumbing system as a whole, and the a/c (whose loudness is great for drowning out the annoying event noise- movie night is a great idea, but they clearly are not equipped to host so many people and allow people to sit directly against guest room walls, another tribute to the flaky staff).
