The property is situated in a beautiful lot of land with trails, diverse flora and fauna and very quiet. Friendly staff made our stay even more welcome as our original reservation was later changed, but the hotel made up for it big time. Super recommended if you are looking for nature walks and a pristine property close to pretty much all of the outside tours and activity.

Great view of volcano. Property needs some serious maintenance. "Warm" pool is not warm, dirty and many missing tiles. Somewhat dated. Not the friendlies front desk. Landscaping could use some help too.

Go in Sep/Oct to Get the Best Rate & Experience!

A MUST GO PLACE! Many guide books were very misleading about Costa Rica's "rainy" season. We went there on honeymoon from 9/30-10/5 and it was sunny every day from 7:00am to 3:30pm. It only starts raining after about 3:30pm. Regardless of the season, you can't do much after 5:30pm anyway because it gets extremely dark at night (and night starts at 5:30pm). We had a fantastic time there. The hotel people were extremely courteous. There weren't many tourists so no place was crowded. The special Sep/Oct room discount was just awesome. Above all, the weather was perfect every day, surprisingly! (See pictures attached.) THINGS TO BRING: - Many $1 bills (USD) for tipping (maybe 40-50). All the touristy locations accept USD. You need $1 bills to tip people. $1-$2 tips are generally recommended for small things such as services from room keepers and drivers. $5-$10 tips are recommended for private tour guides. - Some $5, $10, and $20 bills - Sandals - Beach towel and goggle if you wanna swim in the swimming pool - Insect repellent - Sunscreen - Binoculars - Backpack - Bubble bath soap (if you want this in your private jacuzzi) USEFUL INFO: - You can actually spend your entire trip without Costa Rican currency. Almost all places accept USD.  - Learn and speak some Spanish. They don't care how much you can actually speak. They appreciate your effort. - Make sure you call your credit card company beforehand and let them know you will be in Costa Rica from when to when so your credit card doesn't get declined there.

Amazing views, lovely spa

I only had one night at this hotel and wish I could've stayed much longer.  Room I booked was a Standard, but there is really nothing standard about it.  Very roomy, balcony, amazing room, bathroom was huge, I had a coffee maker and minibar in the room, coffee included and reasonable prices for minibar.  My favorite was the spa, I had time for only one treatment, very relaxing and reasonably priced.  They have quite a large souvenir shop on site, some original items.   Lovely place, amazing views, highly recommended.

Incredible views!

Pros: Free Internet, amazing views, beautifully landscaped
We were sad to only have one night at this wonderful gem. The view of Arenal from our balcony was incredible; as if it was placed there perfectly amidst the lush foliage. We enjoyed the rain forest hiking trails on site and without having to pay extra for a tour. The room was spacious and clean. If I ever make it back to Arenal, this is where I will be staying.

Hard to complain, even if I tried

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet
Cons: see review
I've waited so long to take the time to review this place because I had such a good time & have so much to say. For the positives, it's virtually never-ending: Pros: - Staff: friendly all around from reception to housekeeping to the bar to the restaurant to the gift shop. Excellent service & very resourceful (i.e. booking excursions)! - Ambience: EXCELLENT. You're in the rainforest, it's so lush, everything's located in the right amounts in the right places - Room: We had the suite as it wasn't much more than the a regular room. The room was SPOTLESS & had one of the best views I've ever seen. We were able to hang out on the balcony w/ the volcano front & center. Also, we had an outdoor tub, candles, matches provided. Also a separate outdoor shower! - Restaurant: pricey for dinner, but was good. We were allowed to bring our own bottle of wine after manager approval. The breakfast buffet had great variety, even let us pack something to go when we had leave early for a tour - Happy hour: pool was nice & warm, drinks were cheap (5 USD), bartenders totally cool! Appetizers are also available Cons: - The ONLY con. Like many resorts that try help you really getaway, this is another. Once you're out here, w/ exception of the Hanging Gardens (a must, is walking distance), that's it. There are no convenience stores, restaurants other than w/in the resort itself. Recommend to pick up what you need for your stay before making the drive in. BUT: to remedy that, Lost Iguana does provide FREE transportation into the town of Fortuna throughout the day! Again, loved this place, & look forward to a 2nd stay in the near future

Definitely worth it.....Loved the view.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Quiet, beautiful grounds
This hotel was the highlight of our trip. We went during the rainy season so we had the place almost to ourselves. View was fantastic. Volcano wasn't active but the view was great. Hot tub on deck was nice. Very nice manicured grounds. Walked the nature trail and saw some great fauna and foliage. We would definitely include the resort in our plans for our next trip to CR. This place was the nicest we stayed in on our whole trip.
