"Very pleasing stay"
The hotel facilities are great and the staff are always willing to help and are courteous. We had our son's wedding at the hotel and the coordinators were excellent, together with the bartenders, waiters and cooks. The buffet and dessert tables were exquisite! It's one of the best places to hold a wedding. A couple of setbacks were that I had to request for clean towels, face cloths, and hand towels twice. Plus the ZEN restaurant gives poor service and we shared the same comments with other groups that went to eat there in different nights. I thought it was only because there were 10 of us went and they could be short staffed. But when I heard the other group complaining the next day, then I was right to say that the Zen staff are not well-trained to serve properly. We left without getting dessert because it will take another 20 min. to order the dessert only. Food and drinks were interchanged and sometimes not served.

"Beautiful resort"
The rooms, pools, bars, and restaruants were all very nice. We were worried about the food, but all meals were excellent. I highly recommend the Japanese restaraunt, but for all of the specialty places, be sure to get you name on the list when they open around 5:00 ish. Contrary to some reviews, the beach is beautiful and not crowded at all. It is on the smaller side, but that did not take away from it at all. Occasional tips for meals and drinks (a couple of dollars) go a long way with the staff.

"Beautiful hotel and grounds "
It is a beautiful hotel with perfect grounds and size for a couples retreat. We went for our 33rd wedding anniversary and thought it was serene, quiet, and elegant. We prefer smaller resorts with excellent service. We found the service lacking in key areas but the facility pools, lobby, room, and proximity on the beach was incomparable to other all inclusive a we have visited!

"Loved our week here!"
We had a wonderful week here. The help is great very nice people always looking for ways to help us. The room was average. Daily housekeeping was good. Nightly turn down service was a nice touch. The ocean was very rough. To much for my hips to take. So we spent most of the week at the pool. The pool was very nice meet a lot of people from all over the world.. Pool service was very good. The food was below par as for what I would call standard. At the buffet unless they cooked it for you it would be lukewarm at best. They try to keep everything warm with heat lamps sorry it doesn't work. We had alacarts each night we where there. Some are very good and some are not so good. The ribeye steak at Garden Grill was great. Tenderlion was awful. Lasagna at Portofino was very good also. We saved the last night for the seafood buffet. Being from New England we didn't care for this at all. We had a butler his name was Migual He was Fantastic always trying to help us anyway he could. He had our room decorated for my birthday and even brought me a cake. This resort is Very Big!! There was a nice little casino where we had some fun. All in All a Great Vacation. Please remember this is a poor country. And our tips help them out and most are greatfull for them.

"Pay for the safe case. They steal in the rooms."
I like this place i have been there twice however this last vacation i had things stolen out of my room on 3 different days. The first time the cleaning maid took $60 from my brothers wallet (never leave your wallet in the room when going at the beach). The 2nd time they stole 1 of my brothers hats (we had 8 hats with us so maybe they thought we wouldn't notice). The 3rd time i left $21 on 1 of my shorts before i left for the beach in the morning to test them see if they were really stealing cus we couldn't believe it since i was a bit skeptical. I thought maybe my brother left the hat somewhere or he miscounted the money before he left the room that first time but nope i go back to my room after spending my day at the beach and i check the shorts they had taken my $21... and i tipped this maids every day. We filed a report and they promised they would find out who did it and if they couldn't find out they would reimburse us. We only had 2 days left in the hotel and even though they said they would finish the investigation in 24 hours or less they never ended up finishing it so they told us to e-mail their security people and they would let us know. Not only they never responded to my e-mail but i spend $78 calling them from the US, they transferred me to 4 different departments and leaving me 40 mins on hold. At that moment i just hanged up. I called travelocity and they gave me $200 coupon for my next vacation. Other then the stealing, it was great vacation.

"40th Birthday Celebration"
When we arrived, we were immediately handed a refreshing, cool towel, as well as a icy 'majestic" drink, then whisked to the "elegance club" check in. Our butler Elise was wonderful! I was greeted on my birthday with a happy birthday banner across the door, a champagne bubble bath in our room, and a sparkling cake after dinner. We enjoyed most all of the restaurants, as well as the entertainment. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and can not wait to return!

"Loved It"
We arrived at the airport at 9:30PM, December 30 2012. To transfer to the hotel we used Dominican Airport Transfer They charged us $45.00 for the van. We had group of 5 people and. Took us straight to the hotel in no time. We had our personal guide Susan meeting us along with the driver, we didn't expect anything like that, so it was a pleasant surprise. She accompanied us to the resort and also helped us to book couple tours and came to say "good buy" when we were leaving, as we used the same transportation method to get back to the airport. Very reliable and on time. Check in was fast and without any problems. We lived in the rooms 3301 and 3305, it is quite place as it is further away from all the commotion. Rooms were nice and clean. There is a bar in the rooms and soft drinks in the ridge, that got restocked every other day. There is safe, that worked just perfect and nothing got stolen from us. My teenage kids had IPODs, laptops, IPADS, you name it, everything came home safely. Lock you money, passports, electronics in the safe, it is big enough to fit it all. We were leaving small tips for the people we got to know- bartenders and maids and it would pay off, although you do not have to do it About food. We've been to a few resorts in Dominican Republic and Jamaica in the past and I can tell that food was very good. There are 4 restaurants on site, which you need to book. Hibachi and Mexican and Italian, but they are buffet style, but Steak House is full service restaurant and food was amazing. Also you have your regular buffet, that opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner, You would never go hungry It was pretty windy and the ocean was busy and noisy. We spent a lot of time on the ocean, "riding waives", some people brought small surf boards for kids and it was a lot of fun, like sledding in the winter Pool was very clean and swim up bar was busy starting at 11 AM, Entertainment Team was the best. We've been to a lot of resorts, and I can tell you, that those guys do everything possible to keep you entertained and busy since morning till night, they are the best- A+. From crazy games at the pool to archery, aerobics in the water and on the beach, latin dance lessons and nightly shows and dance afterwards, it is amazing, how those guys keep going. If you are looking for the fun- this is the right resort to book. If you have any questions, I will be glad to answer them, We had a lot of fun, it was hard to leave and looking forward to come back sometimes again

"Five Stars for Riu Palace Macao"
I have stayed at this resort several times over the past 7 years, and it continues to exceed all my expectations. The staff is impeccable, the rooms are clean and spacious with effective air conditioning (useful for drying clothes after a day in the water). Leave a $1 or 2 each morning on your bed with a 'thank you' to Housekeeping, and they will really dress up your room well, and enhance your stay. Food is excellent and consistent, and I believe Riu Palace Macao accesses the best stretch of Bavaro beach. Give it a try - you won't regret it.
