"Beautiful new hotel. Clean & well-kept. "
The rooms were beautiful, clean, and new. The hotel is situated just steps from the beach, and there are several pools. My only complaint was that the pools were too hot!. Most of the staff speaks English somewhat-helps if you understand some Spanish. The food was decent, and the service was pretty good. We thought it was a good value for the money.

"Absolutely wonderful!!!!"
Exceptional staff who go beyond service to accommodate needs/ wants. Beautiful grounds, good entertainment! Can't wait to return. Only downside was attending the time share presentation and not getting credit applied to stay after.

"RIU Palace Bavaro Hotel"
We have stayed at this Hotel(RIU Palace Bavaro three times in the last three years. We had serious problem we we checked in to the Hotel for 2nd time in two years rtegarding our reservations we requested in advance an upgraded Junior Suite Superior garden view (overlooking the court yard and we had requested the same rooms area 3051 or 3053 which we had stayed in the prior two years in a row.Reservationist clerk is the same one who wait on us last YEAR and was very rude and not professional so we ask to speak to the desk Manager.. They told us we had not paid for the upgrade of these rooms and also said travel agency are not charging the customers the amount that the hotels charge customers for upgraded rooms in the area we requested, plus he told us their were no vacancies and they were booked up. Have stayed at the RIU Palacies six times and we are RIU Gold Members. We have been RIU Memebers for over for over nine years. We did not think this is the way Members should be treated(no dignity and no respect for members or a customer. I thjink Travelocity need to check in the the upgrader price you use compared to the upgraded price they charge for their rooms. The rest of the hotel staff(Dining room, bar staff were great.

"HUGE resort right on the beach!"
First off, we had never been to the Dominican Republic so everything was totally new to us. The staff at Bahia Principe is awesome! They are very friendly and helpful. The only problem is that there is a language barrier (which was expected), but we made it through. Upon arrival, we were told that our room had been upgraded (for free), which was super cool because we ended up being closer to the pool and beach. The room was comfortable, but my bed was a bit uncomfortable. The first night we were there a huge storm came through and left the beach very "seaweedy". However, the resort had staff getting the seaweed out of the ocean EVERYDAY, which I thought spoke volumes about the resort. This resort has the MOST beautiful pools EVER! In our section of the resort we had THREE pools! The only other issue was making reservations for the a la carte restaurants. I emailed the resort 6 days before arriving and was told that reservations had to be made one week in advanced. We were only able to eat at Mikado. A few things to know before you go 1) be sure to bring cash. You will be charged an 18.50% fee for using a credit/debit/traveler card. 2) they do not have washcloths. 3) do NOT get their currency, it is worth nothing. You are better off with USD, as everything is priced in USD. 4) Set up transportation to and from the airport PRIOR to .arriving, this is the safest way to travel in this country.

"Loved It"
We arrived at the airport at 9:30PM, December 30 2012. To transfer to the hotel we used Dominican Airport Transfer They charged us $45.00 for the van. We had group of 5 people and. Took us straight to the hotel in no time. We had our personal guide Susan meeting us along with the driver, we didn't expect anything like that, so it was a pleasant surprise. She accompanied us to the resort and also helped us to book couple tours and came to say "good buy" when we were leaving, as we used the same transportation method to get back to the airport. Very reliable and on time. Check in was fast and without any problems. We lived in the rooms 3301 and 3305, it is quite place as it is further away from all the commotion. Rooms were nice and clean. There is a bar in the rooms and soft drinks in the ridge, that got restocked every other day. There is safe, that worked just perfect and nothing got stolen from us. My teenage kids had IPODs, laptops, IPADS, you name it, everything came home safely. Lock you money, passports, electronics in the safe, it is big enough to fit it all. We were leaving small tips for the people we got to know- bartenders and maids and it would pay off, although you do not have to do it About food. We've been to a few resorts in Dominican Republic and Jamaica in the past and I can tell that food was very good. There are 4 restaurants on site, which you need to book. Hibachi and Mexican and Italian, but they are buffet style, but Steak House is full service restaurant and food was amazing. Also you have your regular buffet, that opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner, You would never go hungry It was pretty windy and the ocean was busy and noisy. We spent a lot of time on the ocean, "riding waives", some people brought small surf boards for kids and it was a lot of fun, like sledding in the winter Pool was very clean and swim up bar was busy starting at 11 AM, Entertainment Team was the best. We've been to a lot of resorts, and I can tell you, that those guys do everything possible to keep you entertained and busy since morning till night, they are the best- A+. From crazy games at the pool to archery, aerobics in the water and on the beach, latin dance lessons and nightly shows and dance afterwards, it is amazing, how those guys keep going. If you are looking for the fun- this is the right resort to book. If you have any questions, I will be glad to answer them, We had a lot of fun, it was hard to leave and looking forward to come back sometimes again
