"Great hotel next to the water"
This stay was a birthday gift for my son and his wife. I stayed in the suite also. Staff was amazing. Especially at check in. They upgraded us a bay view room and on floor 11. What a view. Room was clean and they checked us in at 2 instead of 4! Everyone that works there was so friendly, except the older lady that cleaned up the breakfast trays. She walked by us more then a dozen times during breakfast. A bit unsettling as I felt when my son went back for more food, she didn't approve. Uncomfortable. Otherwise this hotel is wonderful. Our room had a few things that I would fix, like the bar sink faucet didn't work, no big deal, but why have one. And the entire faucet set on the extra sink in hall pulled out completely from the sink. The whole thing! The bathroom door opens out, so if someone is inside and comes out when you are passing, they hit you with the door. But the great outweighs the few flaws. I would definitely stay here again. Along with recommending this to my friends.

"Nice hotel next to bay and PETCO Park."
Hotel is extremely nice. Friendly staff. Literally across the street from PETCO park and a very short walk to the Gaslamp Quarter. Would rate the hotel higher but had to pay to get wifi and parking also costs $32 a day. Paying that much for a hotel room I expect complimentary wifi and parking.

"Classic downtown hotel! "
The Westgate is a classy, historic hotel that's in a great location in downtown. Across from Horton Plaza, it's very convenient to walk around downtown. The rooms are large, beds are comfortable and service is outstanding. I've stayed in downtown numerous times at many different hotels, at the Westgate is among the best! We had the best maid ever! When we got back to our room, she had emptied all of our travel bags (toiletries) and have them beautifully arranged on the bathroom counter and the room was immaculate! 2 rooms share a common hallway (behind a locked door) which was great because we stayed with another couple and we could have both our main room doors open if we wanted to and have a common area. Can't wait to go back and stay at The Westgate again.

"Beautiful Hotel Location"
The hotel has a great location, close to the airport, easy access to thoroughfares and nice views. The staff was pleasant. The problem was the temperature/humidity level in the room was uncontrollable for the two nights spent there. Even with the AC on, I left the door open to attempt to regulate temp. I felt like my pillows and sheets were coated with a mist. The room was clean, the view beautiful but I would have rather stayed in a neat and clean Super 8 without a view in exchange for being able to sleep in comfort with manageable temp and humidity levels. And when paying in advance for a package, you would think all taxes (hotel fees, parking fees, bed taxes etc.) would be indicated up front, not at check out. Disappointed and probably won't book again via Travelocity.

"Perfect pad for partying"
I wanted a stylish spot in Gaslamp for me (and friends if need be) to crash at for my 30th birthday. I took a gamble in reserving this hotel as I did not know which one I was getting. All I knew ahead of time was that it was in dowtown and 4 stars. When I found out the location of the hotel, my jaw dropped. Right in the middle of all of downtown San Diego's best bars and restaurants. The lobby wasn't much of a lobby, quite small but all the staff for check in were prompt and friendly. Room was clean, well kept, and hip urban modern decor. It was also stuffed with lots of goodies too, just don't eat everything! The shower was out in the open, be aware if you have privacy issues. But this hotel was all that I had hoped for. The biggest con for me was parking, at $35 a nite it is not cheap so factor that in your bill. Also, if you are sensitive to noise, be aware that you will here all the commotion from the streets below. Best for younger singles and couples, not recommended for kids and families.

Omni San Diego Hotel

"Great Location"
We booked the Omni in the Gas Lamp area of San Diego after previously staying at the Omni San Francisco in March of this year. While the ambiance is completely different it is still a beautiful hotel with great views of the area. I, however, was disappointed with the staff for not acknowledging that we were celebrating my wife's 60th birthday and also for not receiving any type of perk for being a member of their rewards program. Although we booked our stay through Travelocity, which was the same case in San Francisco, we still received complementary breakfast coffee and water at the San Francisco hotel. When we registered at our arrival I told the staff that we were celebrating my wife's 60th birthday. I didn't expect much but I thought that she would be acknowledged in some small way. While I understand why we don't get any rewards points for booking our stay through a third party I think that rewards members should still be offered some perks for being members and still deciding to stay at the Omni since there are many other beautiful hotels in the same area. We did have dinner at the hotel restaurant, McCormick and Schmick's which was mediocre at best. The fish and chips should be described as fish nuggets and over cooked chips. I would not recommend it since there are so many other choices nearby. When we were asked about our stay at checkout I mentioned how disappointed I was for not acknowledging my wife's milestone birthday. The hotel did remove 1day of parking.

"Nice hotel but . . ."
This hotel is very nice and convenient to downtown. It is right on the bus and trolley line. The decor and layout were very nice. You don't get any perks like free breakfast or free Wi-fi. I believe that the Travelocity site says that there is wi-fi, but it is extra. The only down side is the noise. Because the hotel is a little less expensive than some of the others, there was a younger crowd during my stay. Compounded with this, it was halloween which is apparently a big deal in San Diego. There were (presumably) drunk 20-somethings arguing in the hall and being rather boisterous. Also, downtown San Diego has a very large homeless population. They are not aggressive, but they are EVERYWHERE. The area surrounding the hotel is a very active restaurant and nightclub scene, so there is ample to eat in any direction.

"Great location"
I have stayed at many hotels in San Diego including in the gas lamp district and the W is one of the best. The staff goes out of their way to make it special. The location and views of the bay are amazing as well as the rooftop bar.I have booked rooms twice within a month at this hotel and will continue to come back and they are very pet friendly.
