Hotel lobby was impressive, but was less impressed with the room. There was some wear-and-tear that I didn't expect. The worst thing was the train that ran on the tracks across the street from the hotel. It woke me up several times during the night. The breakfast buffet was included in the price of our room, and it wasn't bad, although there wasn't a big variety of things to eat. Get to the restaurant early, though. At 10:30 a.m., there was a long line out the door of people waiting to get in.

Hotel facade is grand, location is great, but DO NOT expect to get the customer service you deserve. Customer service at the front desk is inferior as the associates we talked to were very rude and not service-oriented at all. Not fit for a grand entrance - it's just a facade - and certainly not worth spending your money on!

We are a family of four with 2 small children and have always like to stay at a Hyatt as our first choice anywhere. However, this one is such a disappointment! The room is small and club level service was lousy. We always like to be pampered by the Hyatt exclusive Club Level Floor and are always willing to pay a little extra for this special treament. However, this hotel Regency Level leaves little to be desired. The concierge was rude and ignored me. They are also not kid friendly at all. Trust me, its not worth the dollars. Stay elsewhere!

We stayed at this hotel for a business trip and were treated very well. The staff is friendly, the food is good and the hotel is beautiful! The view was great and the room was clean. The beds were so comfortable. We never got a key to the mini-bar and we called and told the person who checks the bar several times and were told a key would be sent up and one was never sent up. Also, the rooms were extremely small for the price. The train was quite annoying as another poster wrote, but what do you expect in the middle of the city?

We all loved Sally's, right next to the Bay -- try the Sunday brunch for sure. Very nice room and a very nice pool and very nice folks with one notable exception -- the concierge desk is very sarcastic with ignorant travellers and doesn't know San Diego very well (told us it was too hard to get to and around Coronado Island to even try-- wrong!) -- buy a travel book and you'll discover you're close to lots of interesting sites and it's easy to get around.

I hesitated booking but I found the experience to be more than acceptable. I did give a tip to the young woman at registration AFTER check in. I explained that it was a special get together to get to know our future son-in-law. We were always greeted by smiling faces, received notes and complimentary amenities and an upgrade to include breakfast and lovely view rooms as well as a personal note and amenity from the restaurants asst. manager. Our daughters reservation was upgraded to include the breakfast buffet each morning. We had a "grand" time and will go back.

Don't stay here. Staff members are very rude and unaccomodating. The tower we stayed in was old and smelled like cigarettes and bad deodorizer. The pool is substandard compared to other resort style hotels. Do yourself and your family a favor and stay at the Marriott next door. It's MUCH nicer in every respect!
