"Better options than this overpriced aging hotel"

3.0/5

Mon, May 20, 2013 COBB ISLAND

This is an old aging hotel run without one bit of pride or style. It services military contractors, airline crews, and small conferences looking for cheap space. Poor location -- unwalkable to food or metro. Lacks all the typical Sheraton quality -- I think it is owned/run as a franchise. Lots of other good choices in the area.

"The good, the bad and the toe nail"

2.0/5

Sat, May 18, 2013 Farmers Branch, Texas

Checked in late at night with a group of 36 fourteen year olds for a tour of the DC area. Check in was handled smoothly. The lobby was nice, and I asked for a separate room apart from the rest of the group. My request was handled cheerfully. The room appeared nice. It was only after taking off my shoes that I stumbled upon the toe nail clippings from the previous traveler. Serious clippings. Tired from an 18 hour travel day, I waited until the next morning to discuss the disgusting situation with the front desk. I spoke with them directly and asked for additional focus on the rooms cleanliness. The next night I got back to the room late, and what do you know? Toe nails still on the carpet. I called the front desk, they transferred me to a manager; my only option was voice mail. I asked for a call back to discuss this disgusting situation. The only call I received was from the front desk checking to see if the manager had called me back, Advised the person who called that I had not reached anyone, and that I was tired and would appreciate a call early in the morning. Never heard a peep. Apparently my request for a room without vile toenails was just a bit beyond what this hotel manager can provide. The lack of communication, despite my voice mail was troubling. But, I guess if business is good, an occasional oops can be ignored.

"Staff great hotel rooms nice"

5.0/5

Wed, May 15, 2013 Greensboro, North Carolina

I liked the hotel but the nicest part was the staff. In particular, Asmamaw Haile. He made sure that we were taken care of. Because of him, I will recommend this hotel. By the way, I am with a group of blind individuals and we could not have asked for better service from him!!!

"My handicapped experience w/this hotel"

2.0/5

Tue, May 14, 2013 Raleigh, North Carolina

The best thing about this hotel was a member of customer service Mr. Asmamaw Haile. I have very limited mobility and am in a wheelchair. He graciously with no obsequiousness looked after me from the moment we arrived and my husband went to check in and park the car until my husband came back to take me to our room. This man always had a genuine smile on his face, an honest handshake and was so gracious and helpful to all I saw him reacting with. A million Bravos for this fabulous employee. I was rather disappointed with the handicapped accessible room I was given. There were well placed grab bars near the toilet, but that did not make up for the fact that there was not a “walk-in” shower -- only a bathtub which was totally inaccessible to me. Not to mention the shower head in the tub had been attached wrongly even if I could have gotten in to bathe properly! Surely someone “in charge” would have realized a properly appointed shower is better than a tub in a handicapped room. The king-size bed was comfortable, but again far too high and I wasn’t able to get in (or out) without assistance from my husband. What do people who travel alone do? What someone with no mobility would do in this hotel is unimaginable. Surely, a hotel of Sheraton quality would do more for the disabled than merely provide lip service to working to the letter of the disabled accessibility law. Don’t they have someone on staff who is disabled and can really check the rooms out? If they don’t I’m applying for the job!

"Arlington National Cemetery Visit"

5.0/5

Tue, May 14, 2013 Arlington, Virginia

The location was perfect for avoiding traffic to get back and forth from the cemetery. My family had rooms with view. We watched a rain storm come down the Potomac River and then 2 rainbows crossed over the Air Force Memorial from AN Cemetery to Crystal City. The shuttle was excellent for going to Pentagon City Row to eat and the subway station. Our Bellman ASMAMAW HAILE was very helpfull. The shuttle drivers were very helpful. It could have been a sad visit but the hotel staff were so helpful we were able to lighten our visit. All of us slept well in our beds and our rooms were spacious. Only drawback was no mini fridge. When I returned home I found out another family I knew had stayed there with a positive experience also.
