"Good for the price"

We visited the Santa Fe from May 3 - 10. Overall, we had a good trip - especially for the $900 each that we paid. We found the rooms and resort very clean and the staff very friendly. We were in building 5 facing the Palace so we didn't have any sound issues from on the grounds and, surprisingly, there was not much noise from the hallways. However, we thought the service was just average and agreed that we have had better service at the Royal Decameron in PV which is classified as a lesser star resort. We found the food in the buffets was as good or better than the a la cartes. We read about the coffee not being very good at breakfast, but found it quite good except for the last 2 days. Also, all the buffets have cappuccino machines so we enjoyed a nice capuccino those last 2 days and after dinner. We never had a problem getting reservations at the a la carte restaurants even same day reservations. The Italian and the Mexican restaurants were good - at the Mexican forget ordering the flank steak as it was uneatable and I couldn't choke it down, however, the shrimp and red snapper, flan and tequila ice cream were very good. We wouldn't recommend the Steakhouse and found the meal was set up very much like an assembly line and ended up leaving most of our meal uneaten as it was very unappealing and went to the buffet to eat. We really liked the middle courtyard - Both bars were located near the stage and had cappuccino machines. We didn't really stay to see any shows, but they did have music one night and it was very enjoyable. We spent most of our time at the middle pool as we found the front pool too cold. There were plenty of umbrellas and palapas for sun protection and we never had a problem finding a lounger regardless of what time we headed out to the pool which was refreshing compared to other resorts. Having read other reviews, we are very glad we were not there during the spring break weeks as I can see that it would be very loud. All in all, it was a good week. Would I return - if the price was right, but we preferred the Hola Grand Faro in San Jose and would go back there if the price difference was $200 or less.

"Great vacation in Cabo!!!"

My fiance and I just returned from our vacation at Riu Santa Fe in Los Cabos and had a great time! It's unfortunate some people had negative experiences but, our experience was AMAZING! We had a great time and the hotel was really great! Overview: - Hotel was extremely clean. The grounds were well maintained and beautiful - the staff really took great care of everything. Lots of pools which were very clean (we would see them clean the pools, decks and chairs everyday). Our room was also VERY clean, no bugs, and had a beautiful view of the ocean (Building 7 is awesome if you want a view of the ocean and want to be close to beach). - Food & drinks were amazing! The outdoor buffet even had all food enclosed so that bugs & birds couldn't get to it. We only went to one a la carte (could have gone to more) but, we found the main buffet to have tons of options and great food and the drinks were great. We were never disappointed. - Ocean and beach were beautiful! You have to be a good swimmer to go in because the undertow is strong but, we were in the ocean every single day! - We recommend Sunwing's "Amazing Day" excursion. Totally worth the money and you get a little bit of everything including snorkeling & shopping, all in one day. It really was an amazing day! If you want to go whale watching, the best time of year is Dec-April (so we missed it but, did see the top of a whale from the boat!) - Nightlife - great shows, but be sure to go downtown and check out the clubbing area. Lively at night, you can go into all the clubs you want and not have to pay for anything other than your drinks. - There are a lot of people on the beach that will try to sell you stuff. If you want to get things - bargain, bargain, bargain because otherwise they will overcharge you. Ultimately, if you are interested in staying at a clean, fun, beautiful hotel in Los Cabos, we defintely recommend the Riu Santa Fe!

"Incredible Time!!"

I spent May 6 - 10th at the Riu and it was not long enough! I found it to be the perfect mix of relaxation and a fun, party type atmosphere. I spent a long time reading reviews on this site before booking as it was our first trip to Cabo and although I agree with quite a few of the points some of the reviewers made, I do think people are a bit too critical. We never ate nor tried to get reservations at any of the sit down restaurants (though we had planned to) because we ended up wanting to try the variety of theme nights at the buffets and spent more time than planned at the fun restaurants downtown! I found downtown Cabo to be very safe, though we were not there past 8pm. I wish we had places like this at home. You don't need to leave the resort to have fun, but it's not bad if you do! We ate breakfast everyday at the buffet and it was fantastic! I'm not a huge bacon person, but their bacon was sooo good. I could have easily taken a nap after breakfast from eating so much because of the huge selection and wanting to try it all! My boyfriend and I are 29 and 31 and are used to getting up at 5:30am eastern time for work, so for the first few days we went to bed a bit earlier than most do in Cabo and were at the Sports Bar at 9am, which I recommend! Go see Carlos for some Bloody Mary's and Café Mexicanos! He fills up the drinks in the morning with more vodka (or whatever you enjoy) than any of the bartenders we saw and is incredibly polite. There are always nachos at the sports bar (and in every restaurant we went in) and burgers, sandwiches, and hot dogs available. We were never on the lookout for food. It may not be the most gourmet, but it's typical 11pm-7am food and does the drink, especially after a couple drinks. There's also fruit always available. There's also a microwave always there. We made it to the pool by between 10-11 each day and never had trouble finding a chair within 3 rows of the pool. The pool staff is very enthusiastic and seem to truly enjoy their jobs- though who wouldn't if your office view is of the Arc :). We saw them encourage all ages, shapes, and sizes to get involved in the pool activities. Make sure you bring your big cup to fill with pina coladas, though they do melt quick. The left side pool bar at the beach was a bit crowded, but we never had trouble getting a drink at the second and found it to be a great mix of the crowd. Watch out for the Cabo sun- the no humidity is a bit misleading and my shoulders and arms got burnt- even with my base tan. The hours fly by with the fun scene. Our room was perfect for our needs- I thought we'd use the 4 bottles more than we did, but I guess you don't need it much with a 24 hour bar. I've worked in customer service for a long time and the Riu had the best customer service I have ever had ( on par with Disney) and even though it's a large hotel, we still had staff members remember our names and things about us. We saw two of the shows- "Ideal Couple" which was hilarious and I wish we hadn't been too shy to participate in and "Michael Jackson" which was fun as well. I loved the popcorn with the pretty set up bar at night. I love this hotel, love Cabo, and have been talking to our friends and family and pretty much everyone I see about this vacation since we left!

"Worse hotel ever"

Very disappointed. Too noisy. Drinks watered down. Bad food, terrible buffet. Bad service in front desk. we arrived to the hotel at 10:00 pm. We ask for the all inclusive 24 hours, and there wasn't food, only some bad hotdogs. Then we went to our room. and the bathroom wasn't clean. we call to front desk like 4 times to someone fix it, and after 45 mints some came. I dont recommend this hotel.

I could not wait to get home and write my review about the Riu Santa Fe! Please do not trust the negative reviews!!!!!! We stayed here from May 11, 2013-May 18, 2013 and had a fabulous time. We booked our trip almost a year in advance and I was super nervous about staying here because of the negativity. Boy, are some people seriously mistake! I'm guessing if one thing goes wrong on someone's trip then everything has to turn into something negative. That's all I could come up with!! Anyway, we stayed in building 3, room 3215 to be exact! We had VIP check in so we got to sit and enjoy margaritas while we received our room information and keys. The room was super clean and the mini fridge was always stocked. We never ran out of water, pop, or beer and our maid had the room spotless every day before 10AM. The first 2 days we spent at the pool at building 7. We loved the activity crew at the pool and loved watching people participate! The only place that I ever saw get rowdy was the swim up bar in that area ( on the right side if looking at building 7). Those kids were the ones who would carry on and get drunk, but never saw a problem anywhere else. We never had a problem getting a chair either! No matter which pool we went to we always got 6 chairs together. Some days we didn't even get there til noon and had no problem. Later in the week we spent time at the other pool near our building. Very relaxing!! Hardly anyone there and the bartenders were great! If you go hungry here, it s your own fault. I'm not a picky eater so I had no problem with the food. We ate at the buffet a lot (our waiter, Cruz, was THE BEST!) and also had dinner at the steakhouse, Mexican, and Japanese restaurants. All very good! I don't know why people get their panties in a bunch about the reservations, either. You can make 2 at a time, then come the next day and make 2 more. How easy a that! Besides, every night we were in a specialty restaurant, not everyone shows up. There were even times that people who did not have reservations asked for a seat and they got to stay for dinner! Ask and you shall receive! :) A cab ride into town is $3 per person if you have 4 or more people. Definitely check out the marina and the flea market! Lovers beach is a must! It's so beautiful! I loved my stay here and I hope I get o o ack someday! The Riu Santa Fe was great ad our Olympus guide Rafael was the best ever!!!
