"Wonderful place!"

My husband and I came here for a week in early February. We were on the 5th floor in a lovely junior suite with an ocean view. The entire place is spotless and fabulously decorated! We ate at the buffets and enjoyed the food, but 3 times a day was a bit much, so one night we went to the Fusion restaurant and the food was amazing! We did meet up with other couples for dinner out a few nights ,in Bucerias and in Puerto Vallarta. We loved the attentive servers while lounging by the pool and our waiter for breakfast and lunch was truly a treasure! Our friends were right about this hotel, and we can't wait to go back!

This is my second time staying at a Riu Palace, the first being in Playa del Carmen. Similar to the other one, the service is phenomenal. The place is sparkling clean, everyone is friendly. Check in was a breeze. My sister and I got a garden view suite which we sort of regret; it faces the outside sides of the hotel which is less than spectacular of a view. Our friends booked ocean view and I think it would have been worth it to pay a little more for the view. Make sure you ask for 6th floor or up! 24 hour room service is awesome. None of the staff seem to expect tip but we usually do anyway. We only received turn down service a few times during the week, but we didn't really mind that. The beds were good enough for me but the pillows were terrible.. really flat and gave me stiff neck every morning. Personal preference, though. Rooms are cleaned very thoroughly, but I noticed they didn't wipe down the mirrors ( we didn't care but some people are anal about grease marks ) If you are thinking between Riu palace and the regular Rius in the area (vallarta, Jalisco) , I would highly recommend the Palace. The other ones the decor is a little tackier, they are busier/louder (I guess a good thing if you're there more to party). The Riu Palace is quieter and more relaxing than the other ones. The reception/ all the seating areas of the clubhotels are not air-conditioned whereas Riu palace is fully A/C'd. Because we stayed at the Palace we had access to all other Rius. we checked out the "clubs" at the other Rius as well and weren't too impressed with the music, but we could have gone on the wrong night. Apparently the music differs per night. I read a lot of reviews before coming and I have to say, we never once had a problem finding a chair at the pool. The pool also always seemed clean to me. I'm not sure why there are complaints about not having a washroom near the pool; it is a very short walk to the one right by their spa. Beach was fun, we borrowed boogie boards and had a great time catching waves. The massage that is down the beach is 20 mins walk at most, and is average. Still worth 20 bucks though considering the cost for a massage here! I didn't like the town of Bucerias. Immediately getting out of the taxi we were bombarded with sellers. Not my kind of place. If you dont mind that then maybe you will like it more. We walked back to the hotel along the beach and it was nice. (40 min walk, around?) I LOVE the buffet at the Riu! I never got tired of eating at it and I would even nibble on some food there after going to the a la carte restaurants. Some of the food was a tad too salty for my liking, though. Good selection, I would say. Food at the A la carte restaurants are a hit or miss... depending on what you order and your taste preferences. great thing about PV is that taxi rates are standard. That being said, always confirm the rate with the taxi driver before getting in, just in case. Ask front desk what the rates to going to wherever you are going are, they should be standard (to PV malacon around 20-24 USD, to Vallarta adventures I think was 13 USD, Bucerias 8 USD.. i think) You can get around with US cash but the exchange rate they use is terrible ( 1 USD should be 12 pesos but they use 1 :10 ). If you need to buy anything, there is a MEGA store that is 15 min walk from the hotel (has scotia bank there, CITI bank, and good for buying amenities) ask front desk for directions. In PV we went to visit the Malecon, ate at UNION where the oysters are fab and so are the tacos. We checked out the club ZOO but they were really pushy for tip money which I dont like ( they were reminding us to tip) and like most of the other clubs, most of the music was a blend of pop and techno together which really isn't our preference. Make sure you walk into old Vallarta ( at the end of the malecon) for a better feel of PV. All in all I would say Riu Palace has good consistency for service and luxury.

"2 weeks of heaven"

We just arrived home after a fabulous 2 week family vacation at this resort, as well as a friends wedding. For the first week there were 17 of us, and the second week 11. The hotel was clean, all the time, rooms were great, and the food was very good. No matter what your tastes are there is something you can eat. The service was beyond anything I have ever seen, and I felt pampered to the extreme. I have to give a special thanks to the staff, Marcos at the pool bar, Paula and Veronica in the purple / orange bars, At la Peninsula, Gerrardo (Jerry), Romando, and Lalo! Luis and the remainder of the Anamacion team, and from the desk Antonio, you guys and girls are awesome. I have no complaints about the resort, the food, the cleanliness, the service, or any aspect of the resort. If you are looking for a rocking nightlife, this is not the resort for you, and it is pretty quiet after the show ends and by 1:00 am it is silent. We never found issues finding room at the pool or on the beach. Not a ton of youth activities. Room view does not matter, I was looking at the building beside us, but for me there was so little time spent in the room that it did not make a difference and an upgrade would be a waste of cash. I was on the third floor, had no noise problems, or any issues. The A'la carte is not worth the effort to book, and we only did one. As a group we found the buffet was more to our desire as we would all meet up at around 7:00 and then sit after our meal having drinks, coffee's and socializing until 9:00 when we would head over to the show bar. We were never rushed or pressured to more along. The one we did do was great, and there are no complaints from me. I Loved this resort, the people and did not want to leave. This is a must stay resort in the area.

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful hotel April 30 - May 10 (10 nights). We were on the 4th floor in a junior suite with a fabulous ocean view. The hotel is spotless with beautiful decorations. We ate at the buffet restaurants and found the food to be good and had plenty of variety.. We did make a reservation to the Krystal Restaurant for one night and enjoyed our meal there. I like to mention that we made the reservation on the same day with no problem. One day we walked to and from our hotel to the nice little town of Bucerias. We also took a bus to the Malecon in Puerto Vallarta - snapped many pictures of all the sculptures on the walk. I went jogging several times on the beach before sunrise (7.00 am) and felt very safe. Yes, people were putting their towels on the loungers early but we never had any problem finding a lounger at the pool or the beach at any time. I highly recommend staying at this hotel - you won't be disappointed - don't listen to all those negative reviews.

This resort is beautiful and very clean. The rooms are in a long over due need of a update. The food looks amazing, but is horrible, 80% of it. The waste is awful.....so much was scraped off plates and thrown in the garage!!! The liquor in the bars restaurants and room is not what the label says on the bottles.....watered down some now and awful. The wine is even worst. We did enjoy a nice spa treatment, but the sponges they used to clean our face was like sandpaper not so pleasant after a day in the sun.
