"Great until I got robbed!"

I have not been to any other all-inclusives, but I have been to a 5 star hotel in Europe and a cruise, to put things in perspective. Pros: -Average price -most staff are friendly -at gloss view, the place is beautiful. -many bars, can get a drink anywhere, anytime. -good wifi signal -snorkel is free to rent -nonmotorized water equipment for rent for $2/hr -many restaurants, variety of food -room is very big -nice towels -one of the entertainment boys was really cute. -located near the popular bars and restaurants Cons: -I had money stolen right out of my purse! And it's a purse that was hidden in my luggage! The maid/staff must have gone through all my stuff! Unbelievable. -people trying to come to your room at 10pm. When I opened the door, there is a maid with a single towel. I think they do this to see who is here, so they can go through your stuff. One time, I came back to my room with the sheets all taken off the bed, like I was robbed. At that time, I was confused. Now I know. They were looking for money. -the entire hotel smells damp, musty -the bed is uncomfortable, hard and damp -pool water is dirty...too many drunk people throwing in their drinks -food is average, lunch and dinner are often recycled food from earlier -limited room service food -lots of rocks in at the beach. Wear water shoes. -everything is overpriced. Everyone tries to get more money out of you. I booked a trip to isla mujeres for $40, but others on the same trip paid $100! And they try to sell you upgrades, which are not upgrades at all. Don't buy it! Pay 1/3 to 1/4 of what they offer, and that might be a fair price. -finally, no real entertainment. Usually it's the pool staff lip syncing and dancing for an hour. -walls are paper thin! I can hear everything next door. -I asked the leaky minibar to be fixed, but the maintenance guy does not understand English. The dispenser was not fixed at all; told me how it works and just replaced the bottle. I have avoided using it. Unlikely to come back unless I can get someone to watch my stuff 24/7. I would much rather do a cruise instead: better food, safer, better entertainment, for less money.

"very nice hotel"

Stayed here in February 2013 for 4 nights...2 adults and 2 18 yr old boys. The resort was very nice...we did not like the dinner reservation system. we were unable to get a reservation at Krystal for any of the nights we were there, even though we made all of our reservations as we checked in on first day. Pool was beautiful and lots of fun. Lost sun a little early because of the situation of the hotel but no big deal. evenings very boring, I think alot of people left resort to go to hotel clubs. We spent one day at Riu Palace Peninsula...that was nice change of scenery. I would recommend this hotel.

"My third trip"

Once again, we chose the Riu Palace Las Americas. I think things are slipping just a bit; the décor is aging such as the furniture in the lobby getting very shabby. Overall, though, a beautiful place. We found the desk staff lacking. We were traveling with four others and their rooms were at a much better location. We were told we were getting an upgrade since it was our third trip and I'm a Riu member, but it was off to the side and as far from the elevator as I could get (I did have my cane with me!). Our room was fine, clean and Julia, our maid was great! I heard complaints from other though, so were we lucky there? The food was really good, perhaps better than last time. I think they got the message and have upgraded there. The coffee only so-so but cappuccino wonderful! Humberto is there for breakfast in the buffet - look for him. He is very sweet and you will get great service! He could read my mind, I swear! lol For lunch, I recommend the Italian restaurant's Sea Bass - fantastic. Also a nice, quiet place to enjoy lunch with great service there as well. The shows are fun, the magic show was professional! I would recommend this hotel and some day go back. I do hope they step it up - back to the level they were the first trip.

"Super, super, super…."

Great service, good food... you can't go wrong. My only complaint is about the coffee, just undrinkable in my opinion so I wasn’t drinking it. Despite this we had a fantastic time. You can complain about little things or you can just enjoy your life. Just book it and have fun. PS: Thank you, the "White Palace" for making my husband’s birthday enjoyable time. Much appreciated and we’ll be back

"Another great trip to Riu Palace"

The Riu Palace was very clean, had great food and alcohol, and the view was amazing. We went 7 years ago and the hotel had some visible wear since then, but he staff make up for that by keeping everything so clean. The only thing that I can say that needs major improvement are the beds and pillows. They are both rock hard! The rooms are pretty quiet and spacious. We had a partial ocean view this time, which wasn't as good as last time, so make sure to request one if that it is important to you. The wait staff were all amazing and go above and beyond to make sure that you are completely satisfied. The bar tenders at the indoor bar weren't as enthusiastic, or fast. We are already planning our next visit and plan to take even more people with us this time.
