My husband and I stayed at the Golden Parnassus from 30th April - 14th May. It is the best holiday i've ever had, the location, food, drinks & expecially the staff make this place so amazing. Check in was pretty quick, we were given delicous Golden Parnassus cocktails on arrival & the bell boys took our luggage to our room, when we booked this, we had requested sea view & a king size bed, we were not given any of this and paid $420 to upgrade - this was my only issue. The Food is so good, we ate at the Paradise Buffet every morning for breakfast & lunch, there is so much choice you will always find something you enjoy - i loved the sushi. Shangrila, Peir 12, the Old Barn & Sumo are all great aswell, we tried them all, my personal favourite was the coconut shrimp from Peir 12!! The Breeze Bar (snack bar) is open from 11am - 6am, the burgers in this place are amazing, we always had one after the clubs or before bed to soak up the alcohol, the nacho's are amazing too!!! The drinks were also great, i loved the cocktails, Jose was my favourite barman, he made us every cocktail imaginable, my favourites were Miami Vice & Mud Slides, all the bar staff & waiter staff work so hard & deserve every tip they make!! - Marina & Monica serve your drinks by the pool during the day, these girls work so hard, they are so friendly and always make sure you have a drink - The wine in Shangrila was also lovely!! The entertainment staff were wonderful, always trying to keep you happy & entertained, i loved the volleyball at 11am and the bracelet making, Denise, Alberto, Leanne, Israel, Nathan and Carlos definetely make this place fun, Danny is also around all day selling the club tickets, we went to Senior Frogs with him twice, for the paint party and again for the foam party, he takes exccelent care of you, ensuring you get a good table & your never without drinks. We also did Coco Bongo's, we were sold the VIP package by the Coco Bongo's sales rep which i wouldnt recomend as there is little atmosphere up there, Denise (hotel entertainment) gets the same table every week on the ground level right at the stage so if you are going to do Coco Bongo's, definetely go with Denise. Maru, the concierge is also amazing, she came round the pool every day checking to see how every one was, she was so friendly. I really cant say enough about the staff here, they make the place what it is. We also booked some trips through Antonio at Waterworld, he was great, we did Island Mujeres, this was one of my favourite days & a trip i would definetrly recomend, we snorkled, swam with a shark, held turtles & got massages on the beach, we also did the Safari tour, you get your own speed boad and go snorkling, it was really exciting. All in all, this was the best holiday I have ever had, we made lots of really great people and cant wait to return next year to meet up with them.

This hotel is just the best , the location, the food , the drinks, the rooms, the entertainment but most importantly the STAFF !! On arrival the recognition by the bell boys was so appreciated, as usual we were taken to the lobby bar where Muigel poured us our welcome drinks . Check in was smooth and fast , our luggage was taken to our room and we were able to begin our holiday. Hotel is spotlessly clean , house keeping do a wonderful job with rooms cleaned and fresh towels everyday. All restaurants excellent our favourites are The Shangrilla,( Rafael is just the best waiter ever) and The Old Barn,( Carlos is an amazing server there) , the Paradise buffet for breakfast and lunch has such a great selection of all types of food with fabulous wait staff , Oscar, Guaillimo and Jesus just to name a few are so attentive ( with or without tipping).Breeze Bar (snack food) is fab ,especially for those late night / early morning snacks to soak up the alcohol after a night out The bars are great with the bar tenders willing to creative anything asked for, Fonzi, Moses, Mugiel, Memo, Freddy, Big Carlos ,Little Carlos, Fermin all do a wonderful job. Servers Edith, Marina and Monica are all so attentive and deserve every tip given as they work extremely hard. I have not used the spa but some of our group did and absolutely loved it . The entertainment staff are great but never pushy, we joined in some activities but never felt pressurized if we wanted a lazy day, activities are varied and all great fun. Shows at night are enjoyable and have funny audience participation .Denise, Alberto, Leanne, Israel, Nathan and Carlos are a real pleasure. Antonio at the Aquaworld desk is very informative about trips but does not give the hard sell that is so off putting from other vendors , lovely guy. Concierge Maru is amazing, she will go above and beyond for any guest and works extremely hard to please everyone. Management are all pleasant and never fail to acknowledge you with a smile or greeting. We had a fab, fun holiday meeting up with loads of people from previous years and getting to know some great new friends too , the legacy that this hotel has with returning guests is not a surprise as every time we return it exceeds the last. We love this hotel and plan to return again next year again. Thanks again Golden Parnassus, see you all next year. Heather and Paul , Northern Ireland

"Our Honeymoon Delight!"

5.0/5

Sat, May 18, 2013 Lees Summit, Missouri, United States

Dates: 05/05 - 05/12 Pros: Soft Beds, Air Conditioned Room, Great Food, Ocean View, All-inclusive (alcohol included), Adult Only, Free 24-hour Room Service, Unlimited Guacamole (at the 24-hour restaurant Breeze by the pool), minutes from Airport, minutes from Shopping Area, Friendly Staff, Great People, No waiting in lines, Excellent price for what they offer Cons: It is hard to complain when you are on an all-inclusive paradise! But the check-in wait time was a little long (15-20 mins), the drink glasses by the pool were a little small (bring a mug or buy one at the gift shop), No free wifi (you can access Sandos wifi). This resort is excellent for couples. I was a little skeptical about going to an adult-only for our honeymoon. We didn't want to listen to screaming kids but didn't want a raunchy spring break scene either. We lucked out and didn't have to deal with either of them. It was exactly want we wanted in a resort. A full week of nothing but laying on the beach and having as much alcohol and food as you want. Each day consisted of getting breakfast with an ocean view, swimming in the ocean or pool, having lunch with an ocean view, drinking, going shopping, getting back to an air conditioned room to get away from the hot sun (with an ocean view) and take a nap, then having drinks and dinner with an ocean view. Did I mention the ocean view? LOL The food was amazing. The portions were somewhat small but it was okay because since it is all-inclusive, you are getting appetizers, main course and dessert at each meal. You can order as much as you want. We got around the small drink cups by ordering 2 drinks at a time. It worked most of the time except when they give you big drink cups. Expect to get a little tipsy if that happens. One of the restaurants makes you dress up a little, which was nice because we didn't want to eat dinner with people in bathing suits. You can also go to their partner hotel Great Parnassus, that caters to families with kids. They offer a time-share type event where you take tour, which we were interested in looking at anyway for restaurant purposes. The entire tour took about 1 hour which included you listening to someone explain it for 20 minutes. They don't hassle you much when you say No. We just told them we needed to do more research. For compensation, they gave us $2,000 peso voucher ($200 USD) that can be used in the gift shop or Spa (we used it for the spa), 2 free t-shirts, a beach bag, and a Mayan pendent (you have to go to the shopping part of town to get it). The shop that gives out the pendent will try to sell you jewelry but you can just say No. If you really want to buy, just stand there and look uninterested. They will keep decreasing the price. Bottom Line: We had a great time and would recommend anyone looking for a great resort for couples that don't have kids at a great price. We definitely plan on going back!

My boyfriend and I traveled to Mexico for two weeks in May, we chose this hotel as it had quite good reviews and was adult only, as well as been within budget. We arrived after a 10 hour flight and a long wait in the Mexican airport. On arriving at the hotel we went to reception to check in, we were all waved away and told to wait in the bar area, where we were given a drink from the bar...the staff then came around each group individually, this took forever...it probably works fine if not many people are checking in but we were still there an hour later. We wanted to upgrade to a room with a sea view and a Jacuzzi, and for this were charged $700. We ran into a few little niggles right away, when we went for dinner we were turned away from all the restaurants as my boyfriend was wearing a vest, (it was a £65 vest) so he had to return to the room and change, women could wear what they wanted however. The food was however very good. On our second night we had a tropical storm, we were in our room and the rain was very heavy, we heard an almighty crash from the door and a wave of water, game rushing under the door, we scrambled about getting all our possessions onto the bed out of the water, while someone banged on the door shouting, "get out, get out"...I was in my dressing gown but we were given no time to dress or collect any belongings. we were given a key to another room and sent on our way. So..next morning, NOTHING!, no phone call, no knock on the door, we had to go back to our old room (me still in the dressing gown) to find they had erected scaffolding in the night, the room was still full of water and parts of the ceiling, and workers were in and out. We packed up our clothes from the wardrobe, mainly to keep them clean, then went in search of the concierge..and what a nightmare that was, apparently it is not the fault of the hotel if there roof caves in, as no one can predict a storm, she actually at one point said I was lying about what had happened, till i told her i had taken pictures of all the damage, after arguing for a considerable time i was offered $300 back. We of course took it, but could not have been more staggered by the attitude of this woman. They had no idea of any customer relations at all. We had also read a lot about how good the waiting staff were here, and indeed they are, BUT only if you are tipping at least $5 every time, especially in the buffet, they target new people and if you are not tipping enough, they will soon start to ignore you, we found it easier to get our own drinks on the way in. The food as i have said is good, but over two weeks gets very boring, the menus never change and this includes the buffet. We went out to eat a few times just to break it up a little. Wifi is ridiculously expensive, but if you sit on the front step you can get it from the Sandos hotel. The location is good and the beach is gorgeous, the pool was packed every day, but there were lots of sunbeds available on the beach.
