"A relating holiday"

4.0/5

Sun, Jun 16, 2013 Birmingham, United Kingdom

Spent 13 nights at Crystal Cove. This was our fifth visit to the resort and we were not disappointed. We had an ocean view room which was cleaned daily and an evening turn down service most nights. The mini bar fridge was restocked each day with bottled water , cola and beers. We enjoyed the food. Both restaurants were open. Bookings not required for Buffett evenings. We prefer to eat later and there was no problem booking a table at time we wanted to eat. The staff are very courteous and work hard to ensure you have what you need. Only one night did the bar not have my preferred drink of choice but fortunately the rum never runs dry! The beach is clean and there are plenty of sun beds. There really is no need to reserve a bed. The Yellow Fin sports team offer opportunities for all sorts of water sports and look after you if you do not have the skills to Captain yourself out onto the sea. Night time entertainment is 3 -4 times a week, but this is a small resort where people seemed happy to sit and just chat.

"A Great honeymoon resort."

4.0/5

Fri, Jun 14, 2013

Myself and my wife stayed at creystel cove for 7 nights for our honeymoon. Although the resort is a little smaller to ones of a similar price in the Caribbean it was a great week. The food was exceptional especially in 'Reflections' restaurant. Don't expect much in the way of entertainment in the evening although we didn't mind this to much as it was nice just to relax in the cave bar until late. The hotel facilities were very good, everything very clean and the staff very courteous. We had the ocean view room which was amazing. Would definatly recommend this.

"Fantastic resort"

5.0/5

Wed, Jun 12, 2013 Scotland

Spent 4 weeks at Crystal Cove in May. Although we have been to Barbados several times this was our first stay at CC - we've found a new home. ALL the staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us to make our stay perfect. The Yellowfin sports guys provided an excellent service and went to every effort to find us the flattest water for waterskiing (not an easy job with all the jet skis and boats). Thanks for teaching us to sail (Lizzy & Helen - we managed not to capsize!!). The restaurant staff always provided service with a smile and no request was too much effort for them. It was lovely to sit and enjoy our meals without feeling rushed to free up tables (hence the booking system for dinner). There are 2 restaurants and depending on weather conditions and how busy the resort is will depend on whether one or both are open. Both are excellent and Reflections has a dress code for dinner which is not difficult to adhere to. Previous reviews have been negative about the food and the quantities - in our experience the food was excellent (at breakfast the dinner menus were on display to help you choose) - plenty of choices and plenty of it - if your breakfast, lunch and dinner weren't enough you could get filled rolls throughout the day at Drifters and afternoon tea was served from 430). The chefs and kitchen staff did a first class job. The bar staff were great, or should I say the 'mixologists' - work your way through the cocktail list if you dare. Previous reviews complained of long delays at the bar but we never experienced this, even in the last week when the resort was busy due to school holidays. The resort is beautifully kept, everywhere is immaculate from the grounds, to the rooms, to the pools and even the beach is raked in the mornings - well done to all the hard working staff who achieve this. Lying in the sun is hard work but there are members of staff who come round with trays of drinks, fresh fruit, jelly and ice lollies throughout the day - thank you. The entertainment is not on every night and the nights it is on it finishes by 1030 - it is a family hotel after all - you can always nip up to Holetown if you want a later night. There are beach vendors and guys trying to sell shots on jet skis - generally they leave you alone once you tell them you're not interested, some will even chew the fat with you in the hope that tomorrow is another day and you might change your mind - if they are being overbearing there are always members of hotel security about who will intervene if necessary and do a great job. Finally - the management team - it was great to see them helping out in all areas of the resort and the managers cocktail party is worth going to to get to know them better. They are always making sure that everything is as it should be - you have a fantastic team.

"Nice Holiday - Not a true 5 Star Resort"

4.0/5

Wed, Jun 12, 2013 Newmarket, Ontario

My husband and I stayed at the Crystal Cove in Barbados for our 25th Anniversary during the week of May 31-June 7th, 2013. First impression of the exterior of the hotel was dissapointing from the street view, however once in the renovated lobby we felt better. Greeted with hand towels and drinks and seated in the lobby while the checking in process was handled by staff. Small all-inclusive resort with lovely pools and grounds, right on the beach. We had an ocean-view room which the room was small and needed some minor repairs (chipped bathtub, cracked sink, closet door off its hinges) the king-size bed and linen was lovely. Staff was excellent, always friendly and asking about your wellbeing. Beach is beautiful and beach lounges were very nice. My only wish was if they had a buffet resturant to allow everyone's tastes as one evening the menu was a choice of either: duck, lamb or fish. This resort is VERY quiet with no daytime activities planned, however they offer full watersport activities and limited nighttime entertainment. We planned 4 full day excursions that kept us busy and away from the resort. Totally recommend hiring a car and driver for a personal tour of the island, lots to see plus going on the catamaran for the snorkeling with the seaturtles. There are very few all-inclusives on this island and Crystal Cove has been rated as one of the better ones, however compared to other 5-star resorts we have stayed at, this one is tired looking and needs a renovation, they did the lobby with new tiles, furniture and accesories but the rooms are showing their age. Also the exterior of the hotel is painted in Disneyland colours of pink, blue, green and yellows if they just toned all those colours down it would look much better. If you want a true 5 star, go to the Crane or Sandy Lane.

"Brilliant!!"

First time to Crystal Cove and we just loved it.... Where to start... Met at reception with cocktails and were really made to feel at home. Rooms were great, we had a lovely sea view (room 345). His and Hers wash basins. Huge bathroom and getting ready area. Food was tastey, a really big choice as well. Both restaurants were great. 4 course including a soup course. Outdoor restaurant was only buffet a few nights so mostly a la carte. Never had an issue booking a decent time. Ok, it wasnt fast service at night but your in lovely barbados why do you want to eat your whole meal in 10 minutes??? The water sports were great but you needed to book a day in advance. Snorkelling was really good. If I was being really picky I would have loved an area to escape from the heat as it was very humid, maybe some stronger fans in the cave bar. Staff so friendly and our favorite barman was Sheldon. He is hillarious.... and for the beer drinkers.. ..Banks beer is really good. We also went to the sister hotels on the free boat. They were ok but just didnt have the atmosphere of Cyrstal Cove so we knew we had made the right choice. Please feel free to contact me.
