Alana helped me in making a reservation which was a delight. I stay at the clarion quite often and she is very good addition to the property. they opened the pool for me after hours which I was so greatfull. really nice place to stay very reasonable prices. I will continue to stay here at the clarion formally the red lion. great place. thankyou don baker!

Granddaughter was playing in a volleyball tournament at Cal Expo and needed two rooms for one night close by. It was functional and conveniently located to Cal Expo and the Arden Fair Mall where we did some shopping and had dinner. On Sat. after tournament games were over we couldn't check in before the specified time because of several other groups checking in and rooms weren't ready. Not a big problem, since we anticipated it. However, next morning couldn't turn on shower in our room and when tried to check out a little after 8:00 a.m., the only individual staffing the desk said he would have to call someone to walk him trough the process, since the person handling checkout wouldn't be there for another 20 or 25 minutes. Again, "no bigee" since there would be no additional charges, even though they had provided additional towels the night before for use at the pool.

Sad to admit my daughter told me to go on trip advisor because of the experience i had at my last hotel. It was that bad! So i did and i want to complement The Clarion Previously Red Lion Inn. I stayed there Recently and i was not happy. I hesitated to make the reservation because of the reviews, but i am glad i did. The front desk woman whom checked me in was very professional as well as polite. She stated it was her 2nd day which i was shocked! I have stayed here before and i travel all year she was one of the best i have come across. I will surely come back to the new Clarion! Great improvement!!

Have been coming here for the last 5 years for an anual dog show.Changed from a Red Lion to a Clarion but it has not improved...Called the front desk and counted 15 rings until they answered ...Then asked if I could be put on hold....Told them my AC unit was blowing warm air and my St. Bernards were panting like crazy....Said they would send someone right over..Waited 45 min. and called them back...THEY SAID HE HAS GONE HOME FOR THE DAY...I WAS SO PISSED I SAID "YOU GOT TO BE [--] KIDDING ME AND SLAMMED DOWN THE PHONE. ALL ICE MACHINES BROKE EXCEPT FOR ONE ALL THE WAY ACCROSS THE COURTYARD. A MOTORCYCLE CLUB HERE AT THE SAME TIME WITH HARLEYS REVING ALL DAY AND NIGHT..REAL RELAXING

"Worst place in a life time - Van got broken into in parking lot"

First night, opened door and the smell of mold was overwhelming. Good thing we had a bottle of Febreeze spray with us. When toilet flushed, it flooded the bathroom but we were there for a week long conference with approx 200 other women . . . so we stuck it out. They were quite prompt at fixing the toilet the next morning. The room was VERY warm (80 degrees and rising) and when we inquired on how to turn on the air-conditioning, we were told that they can either have the heat on in our building or the air - not both. And they were reluctant to turn the system to air. We didn't get air until half way through our stay. On our first night we met up with a very tall security guard with his Pit-bull running loose!!! Have never seen this before. I guess Pit-bulls are cheaper than surveillance cameras. Should have been a warning. After our second night, we woke up to the discovery that our car had been broken into. We reported this to the front desk but upon check out the Manager denied that this happened. We drove around the compound to see if we could find any of the stolen articles. We didn't but discovered other things. Half the buildings on this site are condemned. There are some very unsavory looking people living in this area. Pimps and prostitutes were seen in the parking area. Homeless people are also sleeping in the bushes on the other side of the fence. Members of our group had someone banging on their doors at 3:00 AM. This is NOT a safe place!!! Even the staff told us the area is scary. Four other break-ins were reported that week. Car alarms were going off all the time. The area is poorly lit . . . half of the lights on the patio fixture were broken and the outside room light to the patio didn't work. Other things of note: One woman in our group had the ceiling fall in our her as she was taking a shower. The restaurant did not follow the posted hours. We did get to the restaurant area once during our stay during a lunch break and they had one server on duty. The poor woman was run off her feet. It was a very expensive stay when you consider the replacement cost of the stolen items. We will never return to this hotel and we will certainly think twice about ever visiting Sacramento again. Very unpleasant experience.
