"The hotel is a good buy overall, but the spa is a rip off!"

I stayed at Barcelo Langosta Beach last weekend with my 16 & 17 year-old boys. The service itself was great! The staff is very friendly and attentive, the food and entertainment were also great. There were little things, like the inside lock on the door being broken, having no water for about an hour one of the days, and very bad signal on the tv, but these things didn't bother me as much as being ripped off at the spa. I booked a massage and a mini-facial and couldn't have been more disappointed. The massage was pretty much a girl rubbing oil on my boy, and the facial was just a scrub and some cream. I usually like to try out the spa when I go to a hotel, and this has been by far the biggest joke of a spa! The building that housed the spa was nice, but the treatment room lacked ambiance. No candles, aromatherapy, not even one painting on the wall. I had asked for a male masseuse, because I know that they are usually stronger, but this option was not available. Overall, I will return to the hotel, but you better believe that I won't be spending a dime at the Spa!

"Muy fantástico Barcelo Langosta Beach!"

We were a family of five ranging from 16 to 74, stayed April 22 - 29th. This is a smaller resort, so the pool, restaurant and bar are all in close proximity. The grounds are beautiful with many different flowers, trees, and an herb garden. We saw iguanas by the pool, howler monkeys in the trees, and hummingbirds flitting about the gardens. The pool and surrounding area was kept very clean by the staff. The entire resort strives to be environmentally friendly with a recycling program and water management program (even the rooms have the refillable dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, and soap, no silly little bottles) Nice to see that the pool bar served drinks in reusable plastic glasses; no need for the bubba keg that I usually take on my travels. The hotel staff was very friendly and courteous as we tried to work on our Spanish. Bryan at the front desk was ever so patient. Food Buffet changed themes every night we were there, none of us were picky eaters, there was always something good to eat be it fish, pork, or beef. Pasta was offered every night with very tasty sauces. The chefs were very attentive; the food on the buffet was replenished very quickly. Fruit was plentiful and fresh; the pineapple and mango was amazing. The desserts were more the european style, which we love, it was hard to pick only one! During the day, in addition to the buffet, there was a snack bar with hotdogs, chicken chimichangas, fries, nachos, fruit, and a salad bar that was available by the pool. The selection of cocktails was good; the pina coladas were made from fresh pineapple. Beach Definitely not a swimming beach as many others have reviewed, but the surf was fun to play in. Beautiful sunsets and remarkable waves crashing from all directions. Rooms Stayed in the 4000 block, very noisy as near the entertainment, since we were on the go all day none of us were awake long enough to notice so we didn't bother asking for a change. Rooms were very spacious, kept wonderfully clean by the maids. Beds were large and comfortable. The safe was large enough to put a full-size laptop in! Spa I had a very relaxing mani/pedi by Maria in the spa at the beginning of our stay, and still went home with my pedicure intact! Such a nice treat, the view from the salon area was so lush. Other Stuff Zipling at Hacienda El Roble (crazy time, the guides were a blast) Palo Verde with lovingcostarica.com (Javier is an amazing guide we saw so much: crocodiles, monkeys, lizards, birds all before lunch) Panache IV with Captain Freyman and his crew (great snorkeling, drinks and food, sunset cruise with dolphins) Hanging out at the beach in Tamarindo, great spot to learn to surf with Iguana Surf shop (booked by the pool at the hotel)

"Quiet and Peaceful Resort - A+!"

I stayed at this all-inclusive resort in April 2013. I had an awesome time! The beach was white and clear. Lots of colorful shells, but watch out for the rocks. Beautiful red and pink sunsets every night across the ocean. Huge waves for surfing (which I highly recommend you do too!). Staff is very friendly and outgoing. Although somewhat limited when compared to other all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean/Latin America, the food was delicious. The room was nice and modern. Definitely make sure to venture into Tamarindo while you're there. Don't just sit in the hotel all day. You can walk to city through beach (~25 min walk), or you can take a cab from the hotel to Tamarindo for $5. Do not buy any excursions (scuba, zip line, surfing, etc) at the hotel. Walk to Tamarindo and pay 50% less. Prices are not firm (even though they say they are), so haggle your way to find the best deal. If one guy says no, go to the next. Don't be afraid to say no to anyone. Remember, at the end of the day, they still want your business. Cab from Liberia Airport to Hotel costs $110, but they will go as low as $80 if you are good at negotiating. Cab from Hotel to Airport costs $80. But be prepared to pay the $30 departure tax (cash/credit card accepted) at Liberia airport before you leave. No, this is not included in your airline ticket. No, it doesn't matter if you have platinum/gold/silver status. It is not any different for you. Pay the $30 and have a nice day,

I absolutely loved this resort. I have travelled to many countries and this by far exceeded my expectations. The room was clean and comfy. We were there in mid March and the resort was fairly quiet. Every staff member we met wherever on he resort greeted us with a smile and a hello. The service was good and the food made me go back for more. Yes they do have bacon for breakfast but once the tray is gone they produce some great sausages in its place If you are a bacon lover than u need to be there early. I had actually emailed the resort with a few questions prior to our arrival and got such a fast response from the hotel. They gave u a terrific room. The a/c was running 24/7 since it was so hot and not an issue with it or over excessive noise. As for the beach it s long and nice but as for he ocean it is not swim friendly. The waves are constantly carrying you in towards the channel in the morning and out to deeper water in the afternoon. I basically just stood in it to cool off. You can walk on the beach towards Tamarindo . Cute little surfing village but if you are out shopping for gifts etc than expect to spend allot. All is very costly. I highly recommend the tour into Nicaragua. Well worth ones time and money. Over-all I was very happy with my visit to this country and hotel. Thumbs up to them!!

hotel was great, our first night was in the 4000 block which was loud at night due to the entertianment we asked to be moved, no problem. we stayed the rest of our week in the 9000 block, room was a tad smaller but ocean view was amazing as well as to fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves. buffet had a different theme every night and lots of variety for lunch. the al le cart restaurtant was amazing, your first meal was included but more then once you pay (that was through aircanada vacation) tamarindo is a 20 minute walk by beach at low tide and 5 min by taxi for $5. hotel staff was great! location was great watching the local surfers was unreal! resort was a smaller scale then most and didnt take long to get from one end to the other. we had a car so didnt do many tours but self tours, we did do the catamaran sunset and it was lovely! went ocean fishing with Boos adventure, highly recommend them! very safe to drive if your used to aggressive city driving. Tamarindo had some great nightlife just ask the staff they are eager to help! overall we had a great experience and would recommend this place to our friends. Each vacation is what you make it, Pura Vida!
