Anse Chastanet is one of the Caribbean’s most romantic resorts set amidst a 600 acre lush tropical estate with 2 soft sand beaches, 8000 feet of Caribbean coastline and breathtaking views of St. Lucia’s twin Piton mountains rising out of the calm Caribbean Sea. The unique rooms, bathrooms and tropical hardwood furniture have been personally designed by the architect owner, and all blend harmoniously with the environment and nature. 1 1/2 miles north of the town of Soufriere. A pristine coral reef is just a short swim from the private beach. The resort is an ideal destination for romantics, honeymooners, and all those who wish to get away from it all. The resort's public and private areas feature original artwork by local and international artists. There is a first class scuba operation, as well as mountain bike center with 10 miles of exclusive trails, water sports, and island excursions. It also offers a full service spa, three restaurants and two bars, two boutiques, and an art gallery. The hotel's fresh produce and herbs are cultivated at their nearby plantation. The on-site spa, Kai Belte, which means House of Beauty, offers a range of treatments at the spa or in the privacy of guests rooms. All 49 rooms (bungalows) are uniquely designed and decorated with original art. To ensure the utmost in privacy, the rooms do not have telephones, TVs, or radios. It is also great for the active traveler. Other hotel amenities include fridges, electric tea/coffee makers, safes, and wall mounted hairdryers. Rooms are decorated with madras prints, traditional bright plaid island fabrics. Extra-large deluxe and premium suites underscore the visionary, innovative, sometimes whimsical side of Nick Troubetzkoy: in one suite, the balcony is built around a full-grown red gommier tree; in another a flamboyant tree drapes its red blossoms around the balcony. Some have their 4th wall open entirely to the vistas, yet are completely private.

"Lovely, unusual resort"

4.0/5

Mon, Jun 17, 2013 London

We stayed at AC for the second half of our honeymoon. We're not really big eaters and felt the meal plans were expensive, even considering the excessive cost of the food on resort. I think it worked out best for us this way- we brought some rum, soft drinks, cornflakes and soya milk from a supermarket so were able to have some drinks and breakfast in our room on a few of the days and ordered as much food and drink as we wanted from the restaurants during the day. The room was very nice and I didn't miss aircon as we had a bit of a breeze. We were in 8D. The mosquitos are vicious- we both got far more bites here, despite the repellant, than we had done in the first part of our holiday near Castries. We thought we would end up leaving the resort but there was so much to do there and the food was so nice that we didn't need to- apart from a morning trip to do the volcano, sulphur springs, mudbaths, waterfal and botanical gardens. The snorkelling was amazing. The beach was lovely. We explored both beaches, the plantation, took out sea kayaks a couple of times, went on a rather stormy sunset cruise and I had a deep tissue massage. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had encountered some of the Caribbean indifference in shops etc. before heading to the resort but they're obviously chosen or trained well here! The cocktails were really good. I had about 2 "Love Affairs" each day- they're like coffe-rum-coconut ice cream through a straw. Mmm. Just a couple of little niggles- if you don't have a meal plan, there is only one restaurant open on Tuesday nights (after the rum reception) and it charges something like $70 plus service per person for a 3 course meal with no other options for dinner. We hadn't realised this and we'd had burgers at lunchtime, expecting to have a light supper. Also $7 for a bottle of water in the bar/restaurants. Sometimes we fancied some sparkling water and on the last day I wanted to take a bottle away with me. This is a bit of a ridiculous mark-up! All in all a lovely honeymoon, though.

"Thanks!"

Most visitors leave Anse Chastanet with memories of a relaxing vacation in a tropical paradise with incredible vistas of the Pitons. On our fifth trip to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and Jim’s 1000th dive, we thought we’d leave with lovely memories of the tranquil blue sea and abundant macrolife just off Anse Chastanet’s beach. However, a diving medical emergency near the end of our vacation changed all of that. Instead, what we remember most about this trip was the incredible level of customer service and personal commitment of the staff of both the resort and Scuba St. Lucia. Bernd and the entire Scuba St. Lucia staff went above and beyond expectations in not only getting us to the hospital, but also ensuring we were well cared for while we were there and bringing us safely home again. Their help and personal attention turned what could have been a disaster into a bump in the road. Peter and the staff at Anse Chastanet were very gracious in accommodating our extended stay and helping us revise our travel plans at the last minute. We also got a chance to enjoy some relaxation and pampering on the beach with Abu and at Anse Mamin that we might have missed had we spent our whole trip diving. So, instead of stories about how beautiful St. Lucia is, we tell our friends about how beautiful the people are. We can’t thank all of you enough for your help, and look forward visiting Anse Chastanet again next year. Jim and Susan Mosser, Alexandria VA, May 2013

"A Fair Review"

5.0/5

Thu, Jun 13, 2013 San Diego

I felt compelled to review this resort mainly because I am shocked that anyone could write anything less than a 4-Star review. My wife and I just got back from an 8 night trip to Anse Chastanet. This is an outstanding resort with comfortable rooms, exceptional food and a very unique layout. I do think I know why some people give this resort a bad review. If I was not on the all inclusive plan, I would be miserable as well. The food and drinks are very expensive. We were on the all inclusive and as a joke totaled up our food and drink cost. It came in at over $5,000 (drinks are $12 each, dinner was $190 each night, etc...) I have a couple recommendations. I would highly suggest getting a beachside deluxe. The rooms don't have a view, but they do have air conditioning and more importantly a short walk to the beach and the best restaurants. I would also highly recommend you get the all inclusive package and call the resort directly to get the best price. I was able to get 8 nights for the price of 6 staying from June 1st until the 9th. Beach: There are two beaches to choose from. The superior beach is the main beach at the bottom of the resort. It is close the restaurant and has very comfortable loungers and cabanas. There is a second beach that is a 10 minute walk or 3 minute boat ride. The beach is nice, but the chairs are not as nice and the service is second rate. They do grill great burgers there so it is worth going at least once. Rooms: We had a beachside deluxe which I highly recommend. It is a little more expensive, but you get air conditioning. It can be very hot and I heard some people complain that the rooms on the hillside were still very warm even at night. You also don't have much of a walk with the beachside rooms. AGAIN, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING THE BEACHSIDE ROOMS. IT IS WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY. Food: This is where the resort stands out. Aspara is their Indian restaurant and it has some of the best food I have ever had on vacation. My favorite was the duck breast and goat stew. Sounds gross, tastes great. There are a couple other restaurants that serve very good meals and a great selection. Lunch was served on the beach and we had it brought to our cabana most days. The ribs were outstanding. Breakfast was my only complaint . It was only a buffet and the selection is very limited. Drinks: Wow! The drinks are amazing. I must have had 15 Camilla's Voodoo's during the trip. There is a great menu with tons to choose from. Activities: The resort has plenty to do if you are interested. The Scuba diving was unreal. There is also snorkeling, water taxis to the nearby village, a Fish Fry on Friday nights, several hikes led by the staff, sunset cruises and the usual island options like zip lines, mud bath's, mountain biking, etc... It all depends on what you want to do. If you want to do a lot, there is a lot to choose from. If you want to sit on the beach and have a drink, you can do that too. Summary: This place is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. The staff is friendly, the food is first rate, the rooms are fantastic and most importantly, the beach is beautiful. If you are looking for a trip you won't forget, this is the place to go.

"Anse Chastanet continues to impress!"

Sun, Jun 9, 2013 Vancouver, Canada

My wife and I had stayed at Anse Chastanet a few years ago for our honeymoon and fell in love with the hotel and the island so much so that we decided to come back this year! And just like last time the only negative was that we couldn't stay for longer. Anse Chastanet really is such a unique hotel, the location is incredible especially if you're looking for a nice, relaxing vacation. That being said there are plenty of activities going on, from scuba diving to biking all of which is definitely worth doing if you come. But then again nothing quite beats doing absolutely nothing and loving every minute of it. We did go on a trip to the North of the island to visit the Rodney Bay area but ended up taking a boat back after only a short while. It was so devoid of the island charm and beauty that we had gotten used to that we couldn't really get into it. We've always been big beach lovers and we were very happy to see that Anse has revamped the beach experience. From the new beach chairs to the fresh fruit and sorbet delivered right to your hut we were in heaven! The service was very impressive. As I'm sitting here back at home writing this review and flipping through photos all that's on my minds is "When can we go back?". Hopefully the answer to that question is soon.

We were all looking forward to our vacation in St Lucia again, this time we decided not to go to Rodney Bay but Soufriere. Big mistake, this resort is very isolated so technically youre stuck there. The staff are very unfriendly, the beach isn't very nice. The food is terrible and if youre not all inclusive its way over priced. The rooms are shabby and out dated. I really recommend staying at Beaches Resort or Jalousie, these are far superior in every way.
