Affordable Flights to Hawaii

With multiple Hawaiian islands hosting their own airports, the state’s 25 million annual passengers have several destination options when choosing flights to Hawaii. Honolulu International Airport (HNL) on Oahu handles the bulk of visitors, serving more than 20 million of the annual visitors. Plus, there are several efficient ways to travel to and from HNL, including taxi, rental car, bus, and the quick Wiki Wiki shuttle. Kahului Airport (OGG), located on the island of Maui, is Hawaii’s next busiest airport and offers equally efficient transportation options to Hawaii hotels.

The Big Island, Hawaii, from which the state draws its name, welcomes Hawaii flights through either Kona International Airport (KOA) at Keahole or Hilo International Airport (ITO) on the east side of the island. KOA is accessible by car, taxi, and shuttle, with shuttles to all the car rental companies. The Hawaii County Mass Transit Agency Hele-On bus also operates a very limited service between the airport and Kailua-Kona town. At ITO, you can quickly get to your hotel via rental car, taxi service, or prearranged shuttle, but there is no public transportation.

Molokai is considered the most remote Hawaiian island. With no nightclubs, high-rises, supermarkets or traffic lights, it’s perfect for the traveler looking for more traditional Hawaii vacations. It has limited ground service at Molokai airport (MKK), which may be your best bet for cheap flights to Hawaii. You can arrange for a car rental, and taxi service is available.
