Cheap Flights to London

London has four legitimate airports through which to book travel to the city. That should give you at least one indication that this remains a global nerve center and top destination for visitors of all kinds.

But with four airports to choose from that serve London from the United States, there’s also a more practical benefit: With all the competition, it’s relatively easy to find cheap flights to London. The granddaddy of them all is, of course, London Heathrow Airport (LHR), the world’s busiest international airport, with five terminals and more 65 million passengers each year. It offers direct service to more than half the world’s nations--about 90 in all.

Gatwick Airport (LGW) is the United Kingdom’s second-largest airport, serving about half as many flights to London in a given year (33 million passengers at last count) to and from London. It’s a popular choice for many London vacation packages.

For those who prefer less congestion and the possibility of lower fares, the third-busiest airport, Stansted (STN), may be the right choice for London flights. It currently serves approximately 19 million passengers annually. London City Airport (LCY), meanwhile, was named the Best UK airport by Business Travel Awards, and serves about 2.5 million annual passengers (or about 3% of Heathrow’s volume). Right in the heart of the London financial district, it provides easy access to several top London hotels.
