Ski, Beach or City? Travel Deals to Sate Your Vacation Hunger

It´s that time of year again. Winter is in full swing; the weather is crummy; and all you can think is: I NEED a vacation!

As you dream about where your next vacation destination will be, you´re presented with a lot of options ranging from warm and sunny beaches to snow-covered mountain tops. Just the other day I was talking with a good friend who was unsure about where he wanted to go for vacation. Did he want to go on a cruise? A solitary retreat in a national park? Or some place with lots of bustle and energy like New York City?

I personally find the nice, hot sun the most relaxing and enjoyable. However, there are many people that find relaxation in the vast snowy mountains, breathing in the crisp mountain air. Whatever your preference may be, I´ve compiled some of the best deals found on Travelocity. Whether you’re a skier, a beach bum or a city slicker, these travel deals are sure to sate your vacation hunger.

Beach Deals

There are currently 329 beach deals on Travelocity, and almost half of those deals are in Mexico. So if you haven´t been yet, or if you´re a big fan of guacamole, I´d hop on over…quick! From just doing a simple search, I found 20 4-star hotels that are 30 percent off. My favorites include: 4-star Westin Resort & Spa in Cancun for just $109 a night and the 4-star Catalonia Riviera Maya All-Inclusive for $120 a night. I’m even thinking about going!

City Deals

If you´re looking to spice up your Monday through Friday, 9 to 5 life with some city escapades, then you´ll be pleased to hear that we have 198 big city hotel deals. Some good ones that I´ve found are Hotel Carlton in San Francisco, a 3-star hotel for just $77a night, and Amsterdam Court, a 3-star hotel located right in Manhattan, that is going for $89 a night.

Ski Deals

One of the best parts of skiing is the post-ski relaxation. Curl up with a nice book by the fireplace, play a challenging game of chess or indulge in a glass (or bottle!) of wine. Whatever you choose to do after a long day on the slopes, you’ll want your lodging to be a haven of relaxation. We currently have 95 ski deals with most of them being in Colorado. As an example, there´s the 4-star Mountain Lodge Telluride in Colorado that is $99 per night. If you´d like to visit our neighbors to the north, try the Summit Lodge and Spa in Whistler Canada for $93 per night.

To get current travel deals from Travelocity and be the first to know about fun giveaways, make sure to “like” The Roaming Gnome on Facebook, or follow @Travelocity and @RoamingGnome on Twitter.  We’ll be launching a fun sweepstakes starting on Feb. 21, where you can vote on whether you’d rather spend five nights in Vail or five nights in Maui. A winner will be chosen for the most popular destination!

QUESTION: Where would you rather go on vacation? Some place warm, snowy or bustling with excitement? Leave a comment, and let us know where you’d rather be this winter.

Give me the snow! Of course, this is easy for me to say because I live in San Francisco, where we’ve had some amazing weather this winter. I have a trip to Lake Tahoe planned in March with some girlfriends, and I can’t wait.
