How Do I Get Cheap Airfare to Europe?

Dear Editors,

I’m searching for cheap flights to Europe. What are good locations to depart from and fly to in order to find the best deals?

Brett

Dear Brett,

First of all, you’re very savvy to plan your trip to Europe in the fall rather than the more popular summer season. Fall in Europe is just delightful for museum hopping, city-street strolling and cafe hanging. You can expect fewer crowds, shorter lines and, best of all, lower prices.

You’re more likely to get a deal on airfare if, first and foremost, if you know what constitutes a “deal.” Average fall airfare to Western Europe from the United States this fall is $1,081, so if you see a fare in that general price range, you’re doing pretty well. You didn’t indicate what destination you were most interested in, but here are the average fares to a few of the top European destinations: Italy ($1,134), Great Britain ($1,132), France ($1,127) and Germany ($1,078).

Gnomeversation: Small Talk with a Cozumel Expert

Gnome’s Note: Hello chaps, it’s the Travelocity Roaming Gnome! Even though I have a rather impressive list of travels under my belt, globetrotters like me still fancy a few new travel tidbits now and again. That’s why I’m interviewing Travelocity’s very own destination experts. Meet me here every Wednesday to learn about a smashing new place.

Oh my! Chatting with Lucy Gazdik, Travelocity’s expert on Cozumel, has sent me into a daydream of pina coladas and sandy beaches. I must say, I’m rather envious that Lucy gets to live in Mexico. What a life! Lucy tells me that the first time her feet ever touched the sands of Cozumel was when she was just a wee little thing, and she has had a love affair with Mexico ever since.

What to Do with a 7-hour layover in Hong Kong?

Dear Editors,

I have a seven hour layover in Hong Kong. What can I do while I’m there?

Hi Pam,

A seven hour layover sounds great, but let’s say you need to be back at the airport two to three hours before your next flight to check in: that would really only give you four or five hours to explore Hong Kong outside the airport. Still, there’s quite a bit you can do!
