Editor’s Note: For the eighth consecutive year, Travelocity’s Thanksgiving Task Force is stationed at 10 of the nation’s top airports, relaying important travel information to holiday road warriors on Nov. 25-26, two of the busiest travel days of the year.
Do not, I repeat, do not throw your bags and scream at the folks behind the ticket counter in the middle of the terminal and admit you wanted to savor each moment with your beloved girlfriend (tall guy at AirTran terminal) and that’s why you missed your flight!
Please keep in mind to give yourself two hours to get to your gates if it’s an domestic flight and three hours for international flights.
Airlines are cutting capacity so flights will be crowded. Please make sure you make it to your gates because there will be less flexibility to get on the next flight.
Traffic: Tractor trailer accident on I-285 back up to Fulton Industrial Blvd SW; two right lanes closed. May cause delay for those who are on the road to the airport.
Security: Average time for all three terminals about 10-15 mins. Recently TSA opened up Black Diamond lanes for expert passengers. There are only a few people, if you are in a rush and know the security screening process, I say use it.
Parking: Plenty. All lots are open.
Delays: Rain in New York City has caused delays in Delta flights getting into La Guardia Airport.
