Editor’s Note: For the eighth consecutive year, Travelocity’s Thanksgiving Task Force is stationed at 10 of the nation’s top airports, relaying important travel information to holiday road warriors on Nov. 25-26, two of the busiest travel days of the year.
When I left the main terminal at LAS to head through security and on to my own flight (to Seattle!), everything was running smoothly at the airport. Crowds had thinned substantially, and in fact I breezed right through security at checkpoint D—which is funny, because this had been the one with the longest lines both yesterday and today. One warning though: despite being a seasoned traveler—and having urged people to be familiar with security procedure before flying for the past two days—I forgot to take my laptop out of my bag before it went through the scanner. I know! It was mortifying! So that’s the lesson of the hour: no matter how well you think you know the security protocol, always double check you’ve done everything you can.
I’m signing off from LAS for now, so happy Thanksgiving everyone, and safe travels!
Stats (as of 4:55pm PST):
Security: Very easy and quick at all checkpoints—five minutes at most.
Check-in: No more than a 5-10 minute wait for most carriers.
Parking: Plenty available still in the Economy lot ($8 a day, remember to leave 30 minutes to travel to the terminal by shuttle)
Traffic:: Still causing a few jams thanks to the rain; check before you go.
Delays:: Nothing major.
