2004: Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
Editor’s Note: This post is part 34 in a forty-part blog series in celebration of Walt Disney World Resort’s upcoming 40th Anniversary. Please welcome to The Window Seat Kara Bacon, Walt Disney World Moms Panel Guest Author.
On May 17, 2004, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa opened. Take a closer look at this equestrian-inspired Disney Deluxe Villa Resort resting on the shores of Village Lake.
A washer and dryer, two bathrooms – and a kitchen? Please, pinch me now. Am I really that lucky to be a Disney Vacation Club member who can now successfully survive a Walt Disney World Resort vacation with two teenagers and a tween? The news gets even better: Disney guests don’t have to be Disney Vacation Club members to stay at the villas! And for those who like to be near all the action, shopping, dining and golf, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa can’t be beat.
This Victorian-inspired resort captures the feelings of yesteryear’s New York retreat, famous for horseracing and luxurious spas. It is a magical place to both relax and explore the magic of Walt Disney World. With its close proximity to Downtown Disney, my kids love being able to take a 10-minute walk to indulge in their adventurous gaming side with a visit to DisneyQuest’s five floors of interactive gaming. I prefer to explore all of the shopping, and then unwind at The Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. If I’m feeling ambitious, a trip to the fitness center is a perfect way to work off all the dining and snacking I’ve been doing. Again, that’s if I’m ambitious. Sometimes the only workout I really want is a walk to High Rock Spring Pool or one of the other pools at the resort. My husband finds pure bliss in being surrounded by golf courses. In fact, this is the only resort on property with direct access to a course.
I have to share the secret gem we’ve happily discovered at the resort: The Turf Club Lounge. With our love of steak, fish and pasta, there is something for everyone to enjoy here. If not, we are just minutes away from all the dining options at Downtown Disney.
It’s good to be able to call Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa “home.”
