I stayed @ the Lorien Hotel in Alexandria, VA, for 2 nights with my daughter and close friend.  It was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in!  Service was wonderful. Staff was pleasant and helpful.  Valet parking was efficient and smooth.  Rooms were immaculate and comfortable. We ate dinner on Friday night at BRABO and had breakfast both mornings there.  Food was superb!  All three of our party were extremely pleased with the quality of the hotel and surprised by its affordability!  Would highly recommend it!

"Outstanding!"
I stayed here for 5 nights by myself at the beginning of August and had a wonderful time. My room was large, clean, well decorated and quite luxurious. The bed is amazing. If I could have gotten it home on the plane I would have. I haven't slept so good in years. The one thing I found a little odd was no plug ins in the bathroom. It worked out as there was one right outside the door but still odd. I LOVED the products (shampoo, conditioner, soap) in the bathroom. Really great quality. The negative comments from other reviewers regarding the size of the bathroom is kind of funny considering it has everything you need so I'm not sure why it needs to be bigger. I tried out the restaurant for breakfast. The food and service were fantastic. My waiter was great and made excellent recommendations. I thought the prices were expensive but typical for a city. No more than I would have paid somewhere else. I also experienced the roof top bar. The bartender, Jay, was fabulous. He seemed to really care for his customers and his drinks were great. Again, expensive but typical for a city. The pool was smaller than I thought it would be but the whole space was really beautiful. I received outstanding service from the second I pulled in to the second I checked out. The location is perfect. I was in DC for vacation and I walked to everything from the hotel. Love this hotel and have every intention of returning.

"great hotel, central location"
Very trendy boutique hotel. The rooms are a good size for the DC area. Hotel sits to the side of an undrepass, so travelling north be sure to bear to the right otherwise you will miss the hotel. BTW the wine reception was great.

"Great hotel in great location, but with minor room glitches"
I very much enjoyed my stay at the W Washington DC (although the hotel still is not widely known by this name, instead being referred to as "the Washington Hotel" by several taxi drivers). As a walker, I enjoyed that the hotel was centrally located for my visit, making a pleasant walk to many venues, including the Convention Center. It is less than 3 blocks from the subway, making access to most every part of the city (including the airport) very quick and easy. I did, however, have several complaints arising from the room's shower, which apparently leaked substantially each time it was used. The first time (a quick mid-day shower following a red-eye flight and before rushing out to a Nationals baseball game), I didn't notice any water until after returning from being out all day, and so when I discovered a small wet area of the bedroom rug, thought I had simply spilled some water without realizing. But the next morning, after my shower, I noticed water again, and thought perhaps I hadn't properly closed the shower door. But the third morning, while preparing to shower (having started the water), I noticed an area where water had already started seeping through back of the glass shower enclosure. I placed a hand towel at the corner, thinking that would be enough to address the issue. That was nothing, however, to the giant puddle that had formed in the front of the shower unit during my shower. Being a good sport (and with several large towels available), I cleaned up the mess and reported it to the front desk. Problem 1 - After telling the staff member that the shower was leaking, he asked me "Did you tell anyone about this", to which I replied, "That's what I'm doing telling you." He promised to get engineering to look at the problem, and when I returned later that day found a sign indicating engineering had, indeed, come and fixed the problem. Problem 2 - Unfortunately, the next morning I discovered they were wrong (or fibbed), as several more towels were needed to keep the floor from becoming a wading pool. Kind of frustrating service.

"This hotel was super trendy and fun."
I enjoyed the spacious room (complete with some kind of awesome faux-animal skin rug). Bar downstairs was also really lively and fun, boasting an excellent selection of wine and a good people-watching scene. It's kind of dark/modern/trendy, so if that's not your thing, I'd stay at a more traditional place.

"Small Hotel--Good Deal"
The Henley Park is a small, older hotel in a fine location--just across Massachusetts Avenue from a monster Marriott under construction. It's clean, comfortable and reasonably priced by downtown D.C. standards. Curiously it has no ice machines available for the guests, but a call to the front desk brings a quick bucket of ice to your room for the price of a tip. Staff helpful. I did not use the food service during my brief stay. Probably not a good place for children.

"Convenient location, nice hotel"
Overall this hotel gets good marks for location, hospitality and the room itself. It gets knocked down for promising a free continental breakfast until 10:30 am on Christmas morning and not delivering. We went down at 9:55 and there was nothing left. Bah humbug! On the other hand the free wine each evening is a very nice touch. It was annoying to require a registration to get free internet.

"Great location & OK price considering location"
Excellent location in Dupont Circle, less than a five-minute walk to the metro. Starbucks is right across the street, & there are many great restaurants within walking distance; also bookstores, CVS are very close. No in-room coffee, which surprised me. Room was a good price & good quality considering the location; I've stayed at other places in the DC area which have cramped rooms, low-grade facilities, and are still expensive. Hotel staff told me they were unable to provide a hotel receipt for reimbursement from my employer because I'd booked through Travelocity; I guess that's understandable but still wanted evidence that I'd stayed at the hotel.
