"No A/C but it was still paradise"
The hotel overall was a very nice place to stay with evening entertainment and other amenities that made it a nice stay. The staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome and at home. My husband and I went to Hawaii to get married and we had planned a simple wedding on the beach but needed some help so we used the concierge service, he was extremely helpful and worked to get us some very nice packages for a great experience. The in hotel bar/restaurant was very nice, a little pricey but very nice and the staff definitely had the spirit of mahalo. When you go to the island be prepared to tip everyone and walk everywhere you want get somewhere quickly since the traffic is ridiculous on the island. One other thing you don't see is the amount of homeless everywhere, they for the most part leave you alone but don't be surprised if one or two ask money every day to buy alcohol or pot since it legal on the islands.

"Good value for the money"
Good value for the money. Short walk to the beach & we requested a room on an upper floor because I had read that there was a lot of street noise at night. Room was small and basic. I had read that the interior was recently renovaed but they did not do a stellar job. For example, someone must have noticed that an area had been missed when our room was repainted and it was touched up BUT with a different color-close but not quite matching. A big plus was that you couldn't hear the neighbors and having a tiny balcony was a nice touch.

"Nice stay for a reasonable price. "
We needed to stay 1 extra night on Waikiki because of our scheduled flight out a day later than our time share rental. This hotel provided a nice place to stay. I would recommend it for a night or 2. Rooms were small but the beds were comfortable with nice bedding. A little loud since the room and balcony are open to the main street.

"Banyan Classic Ocean rooms"
Street-side the Moana Surfrider is situated on busy Kalakaua Ave. The port cochere, with rocking chairs and practically connected to the Honolulu Coffee Co next door seems to absorb the Waikiki traffic. Once inside the foyer seems an entity until itself, not really directing you in any direction (check-in, courtyard, restaurant). Once we figured out go right to check in, we got our keys to a corner top floor Banyan Classic Ocean room. Room was cosy and simple. The sound of the waves on Waikiki beach and views of the coast and Pacific ocean were magic. Would love to stay again.

"Awesome hotel..."
I was greeted by the desk clerk Tom. He made me feel so welcome and made sure I was going to love being there. I had a couple of problems with my rooms but they all made sure I was taken care of and didn't ruin my stay with them the valet guys were all very nice and helpful in getting our car or giving directions or suggestions. The bellhop Steve was a super nice and helpful man. Since I was traveling alone ... The hotel and staff gave me a warm and safe feeling to enjoy my time spent there and will definitely stay with them again.

"Pleasant"
Pleasant old hotel.  It is near the middle of Waikiki beach, adjacent to shopping centres, but is surrounded by lawns and trees, so it feels more like a suburban resort than an urban hotel. Pro: Quiet, clean, and comfortable rooms. Adjacent to the beach: excellent for swimming. Adjacent to Waikiki shopping centres and restaurants. Surrounded by lawns, tropical plants, and trees. Attractive architecture, carved doors, and art including a painting by Herb Kane in the lobby. Friendly and helpful staff. Con: Slow check-in. Resort fee in addition to room tariff. High costs, so stayed there only half the desired length of stay.

"Perfect Hotel for Waikiki on a budget!"
The coconut Waikiki has to have been one of the best hotels I've ever been to! My partner and I stayed in the Queensize-city view room, which had an excellent view overlooking the canal, plus the balcony made for plenty of relaxing views of the sunrise/sunset. The best part about it had to be the location, we were about a 15 minute walk from the beach, and just down the road from the shops/ restaurants! :) The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when we ended up having to book another night at the last minute, we still were able to keep our same room. All in all we would rate it 4.5/5 ★ Will be back again sometime in the future!! :)
