Volunteer abroad with Cross-Cultural Solutions to engage in meaningful volunteer work overseas and work with local people in the areas of Caregiving, Teaching, Healthcare, and Community Development. Choose from the Volunteer Abroad, Insight Abroad, and Intern Abroad programs, available year-round from 1 to 12 weeks.
CCS programs offer a comprehensive experience that helps you truly connect with the community with which you are volunteering. Your skills and interests and the immediate needs of the community are matched to ensure a volunteer placement that is both useful and appropriate. You'll gain insight into the local culture through CCS activities, while having plenty of free time to explore on your own.

Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

Volunteering in Kilimanjaro provides you with a unique opportunity to access some of Africa's greatest sights, including Mount Kilimanjaro and national parks teeming with wildlife, while also experiencing the warmth and tradition of the Tanzanian people. In Moshi, volunteers will learn that the community is directly affected by an extreme lack of resources--an effect of the remnants of colonialism--and the ongoing impact of the HIV/AIDS crisis.
This shortage of resources affects the availability of education and healthcare facilities and translates to an even deeper need for human support networks to fill in the gaps. Volunteers in Kilimanjaro bring new energy, creativity, and enthusiasm to different local organizations, and provide solidarity for over-worked organizational staff and volunteers.
Goals: In 2011, goals in the community include giving local children necessary one-on-one attention and care in crowded daycares and schools; empowering women to be more self-sustainable and healthy; and improving the efficiency and efficacy of local organizations.
