"Absolutely the BEST hotel I've ever stayed at!!!"
My friend and I went to Tokyo for a 2 week vacation back in July. Needless to say, this hotel caught our attention and we wanted to stay here for our vacation. Let me just say, that we were INSANELY happy with our stay. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were very clean, the view was simply breathtaking of the tower right outside of our room, and there was a lot of stuff to do in general at the hotel. Staff spoke English very well, and they made us feel very comfortable that we were staying there. In the end, I could write several pages about our hotel experience, but in short, I will just say this. If you ever consider a hotel in downtown Tokyo, absolutely consider this hotel. I know we will definitely stay here again if we ever can go back to Tokyo. :)

"Great value, great location (limited English!)"
We had a great time vacationing in Tokyo for a week, and we loved the hotel location. It was very clean, and the staff was very professional. There's free Wi-Fi in the lobby and free wired internet in the rooms. However, only one or two staff members would actually be fluent in English. Their English seemed very limited for creative, out of the box questions and issues. ] Great restaurants, but they're so popular you've got to make a lot of reservations that morning or so. No free food or breakfast though. The gardens were magnificent.

"The staff are friendly and even with a language barrier, were quite willing to help."
As far as amenities go in the hotel, you don't really get much unless you're in the higher costing rooms. Though on a trip to Tokyo, I was out most of the time, I found out about the amenities when I decided to explore the hotel. What's accessible for the majority of the patrons are the slow style gym which has trainers readily available... but was awkward since when i poked my head in to check it out no one was there and all the trainers were staring at me. The back of the hotel had a nice area to walk around. It was cold... but still nice. It'd be even more awesome during the warmer months when it's not raining. One thing to note though since I did forget, there is a paper on the desk when you first get into your room about a greener cleaning procedure. If you opt for that, they come clean you're room on a fixed schedule: On the 3rd day then every second from then on. Every day that your room is not cleaned it says you get a voucher for 500 yen to spend around the surrounding area/hotel.

"The room was clean and comfortablefrom the th up to 16th floor but you may be placed on the lower floor which has not be renovated yet!"
I was on vacation with my husband in Tokyo and we expected to have a comfortable room in Takanawa as we always had many times before. But at first, they took us to the floor we've never stayed, and the whole floor and the room we've been to was filthy and smelly. Of course we claimed that we should have much better room, and then they took us to the club floor. the club floor was O.K. and it was the same type of room we've stayed before. Afterwards, we found out that from the 5th floor to the top has been renovated in exactly the same way and only the 4th floor has not been renovated yet.

"Overall pleasant experience"
Rooms are clean. Most of the staff speaks some English. There are computers with internet access in various languages near reception. Major train station across the street. Very easy to get to and from Narita Airport. Not the most luxurious hotel but it is safe, comfortable, and easy. I do not speak Japanese and experienced no problems.

"Good hotel, perhaps too many people in transit."
Welcome to the teeming millions of Ikebukuro. Literally. Ikebukuro Station is said to be the second busiest in the world. This enormous hotel caters to Chinese and Japanese guests, also some from other Asian countries, India, and some Western people. The rooms show signs of being heavily used. Ask for a smoke free room or you will get one stinking of tobacco. Pros: the staff are attentive and courteous. There is a convenience store on the first floor that sells almost everything, including travel goods and souvenirs. The buffet in the basement is lovely. The hotel connects to one of the biggest shopping malls in Tokyo. Cons: you will not have control over your air conditioning, and may need them to lend you a fan. If you are handicapped and need a bath stool, they may tell you that they don't have them. They do. Ask again. A good hotel, excellent service, but don't expect an unused looking room.
