"Great hotel in Union Square"
We celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary by spending a weekend in SF. At check-in, the attendant upgraded us to the Emperor's Level with a city view. Awesome! The hotel room was clean, comfy bed. The Emperor's Level lounge was great (free continental breakfast and daily wine and cheese reception). The hotel was central to shops, restaurants, BART station, Powell cable car line.

"In the heart of Union Square"
Very nice hotel in the heart of Union Square.  It is well within walking distance of all the shopping, the galleries and theaters, and restaurants located downtown.  You are going to pay at least $200 to stay in the Union Square area and the Villa Florence has a very competitive rate for where it was located, a half block from Union Square Park.  We just parked our car at the O' Farrell parking lot and never went back to the car for our stay.  A great jumping off point if you want to explore the area downtown.  Be advised that the rooms shown on the website are all street facing and get a lot of natural sun light but many of the rooms are interior facing and you will not get any views.  The rooms by the elevators were the least impressive since they are very small.  It was mostly just a room with a bed, the space around the bed and adjoining bathroom.  The one window faces a brick wall.  We were lucky enough to switch to an interior room with more space, natural light, and windows.  The Bar Norcini located in the lobby was a wonderful place to share a pizza and drink with a loved one before hitting the streets without needing to make reservations or wait long.  Wifi access was available but our smartphones couldn't get a strong enough signal to surf the web with any consistency.  Overall, a good place to stay if you want to be in the heart of downtown San Francisco.

"Large, busy, comfortable, expensive."
Extremely large, 13 clerks registering guests. The lobby was huge, lots of seating, but not cozy. A lot of walking to get from the lobby to the 1st tower where we stayed, then much more to get to the parking garage in the center of the hotel. Down to the lobby, across to another set of elevators, up to parking lot.... $53 to self park for 24 hours. Starbucks in lobby! The room was comfortable and clean, but not luxurious by any means. Our room in the 32nd floor had an awesome view! Very expensive, have stayed at other hotels for 2/3 the money and been as comfortable.

"Great location and beautiful room"
I travel to San Francisco several times throughout the year and had never stayed at Abri before. What a pleasant surprise! My room was great, the staff very accommodating, and the location was perfect. What a sweet little gem! I will definitely stay here again.

"Great location"
We stayed at the Hotel Union Square which was a cute, friendly and clean boutique hotel. Great HH (wine and music). Important note: if you want an air conditioner in your room you'll have to request it since it's not standard.

"Great location, just request one thing...."
This hotel has a perfect location for a long weekend in the city. You can easily walk anywhere or catch the Bart or Muni not far from the hotel. THE ONLY THING I STRONGLY RECOMMEND is ask for a room facing the INTERIOR courtyard. Its not really a courtyard as it is a small open outdoor square and you will have NO view BUT if you stay in a room that faces any street you WILL hear the traffic. I can fall asleep with any noise going on around me but in the morning it's really not nice to be awakened by a passing emergency vehicle, which happens very often. The "deluxe" room they "upgrade" you to for free usually faces the street so DON'T fall for it. Other than that the only other down-side is the 1 incredibly slow and very very small elevator. Don't be put off by people who snub the neighborhood, it's fine and if you're used to city people and lifestyles it's perfect.

"Perfect location at a great price"
If you're looking for a clean comfy place to stay while you're seeing the sites of San Francisco, this is (almost) perfect. It's only a block from Union Square, which makes it central to shopping, dining, and transportation. We had a room at the end of a hall on the back of the hotel and it was perfectly quiet. The bed was great, but the pillows were not. When I asked if they had any better pillows, they found me a couple that were a bit better, but if you're fussy, better bring your own. The room was fairly small, but clean. The bathroom was a good size, also very clean. Keep in mind that this is an old hotel, and it shows, but not in negative ways. The only drawback to the room is that it didn't have a mini-fridge. Other than that, if you're looking for a place to sleep and shower before heading out for a day of exploring, it's perfect!
