Historic building, very nice stay—we’ll come back
Nice hotel, historic building with interesting info on its history (built around 1910), beautiful lobby! Room was updated, very clean, bed was very comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), room temperature easy to control (amd Im picky about a good temperature for sleeping too). Staff were all very friendly and helpful, location was convenient to many sites (Art Institute, Bean, Buckingham Fountain, Grant Park, many restaurants all with easy walk, even for this 65 yo non-athlete; fast Lyft/Uber to theater district ). Price was VERY reasonable which made it even nicer! (Though we would have been fine paying a bit more than we did…shhhh, don’t tell the hotel! 😆.) Only problem was that the Wi-fi in room was very slow but that didn’t matter to us this trip. Restaurant inside the hotel, Mercat a la Planxa, was very good, excellent service (will do a separate review of that). Really enjoyed this hotel, we would definitely stay here again.

I liked that it was a convenient boutique property with wonderful ambiance and great customer service. Nice restaurant for indoor dining with great food and service as well. What I didn’t like was that I was charged two separate rates one higher than the other for a two night stay. Due to having booked with a third party. I wasn’t aware the rates had jumped up the second night until I checked out. I felt the third party should have been more upfront about that.

Stayed on the 6th floor by the fitness centre - walls are like paper so could hear the weights falling - plus dissatisfied at check in there was nobody to help with luggage to our room and had to do everything ourselves - certain staff were very unhelpful in that aspect. Otherwise generally clean and well presented hotel and rooms with comfortable bed and spacious rooms. Location is prime for access to millennium park, Michigan Ave and Chicago River
