Was great, just didn't like having to return the room key every time we left, and then walking outside to another entrance to get to the room. Other than that, it was fine.

This was a typical big-city European budget hotel. The room was fairly small but clean and comfortable. The staff spoke English and was friendly and accommodating. It was what I wanted and what I expected. I felt it was a good value for the cost and would recommend it to others

When you. Stay downtown you stay in an old building. This one was nicely redone. But it was way dark. The storm shutters on the window didn't help. You carried 3 keys. 1 to get into the courtyard, it was a ways down the street from the hotel, 1 to get into the building and 1 to get into your room. Breakfast was good .

Room was death trap & got robbed in front of hotel

Cons: You could add those crazy things called smoke detectors, a fire escape...a phone...a clock radio...
Location: You can enjoy being mugged right nearby, almost without even having to leave the discomfort of your windowless death trap of a hotel room!
You want to save a few bucks? You think this seems like a good option for an overnight stay? Don't do it. No, never, not even once. I don't know if the main building is different, but they put me in some completely different building half a block away, such that every time I went out I had to exit a courtyard, walk down the street, re-enter the lobby and hand off my key. The number of keys would be encouraging, since it's a terrible neighborhood (I'll get to that in a bit), but I had a lot of trouble with the locks. That's a minor issue, though. The room had, as far as I could tell, no smoke detector, no fire exit, no fire plan. In case of fire I would have had to fumble with 3 different big, heavy doors. The room itself did not even really have a window, just a barred-up balcony, so there was no light. It was awful. There was no phone, either, except in the bathroom (shared, so in an emergency you'd have to run in to the hall and unlock a door and make a call), so basically if you stay here and there's a fire you will die. Worst of all, when I popped outside for a quick meal, someone ripped my necklace right off of me and ran off. The neighborhood and robbery are clearly not the hotel's fault, but the combination of the crime, the dismal room, and the terrible safety hazards it represents just The people were nice enough, especially given that I just. could. not. get. the doors to unlock, but that doesn't make up for how bad this place is.

Great location, good food, helpful people!

Pros: The hotel staff were wonderful. Helped me to order tickets for "Noche Tango" dinner and dance performance on line. (The website was in Italian.)
Cons: Room was a little dusty. Otherwise, beds were clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast was good. Staff were friendly.
Location: Good central location, close to many sights in the historic district.
Hotel was in a great location, near Termini Station, Santa Maria Maggiore Church; walking distance to S. Pietro In Vincoli, and a short hike over to the Colosseum and Roman Forum areas. Lots of eating places in the area around Santa Maria Maggiore with good food and charming outdoor sidewalk seating. Pizza really is better than any we have eaten in the US: very light crisp crust, fresh ingredients, not heavily seasoned. Taxis (white cabs with green taxi hoods) were reasonable and a quick way to get around the city. However, taxi drivers did not speak English. Helpful if you have an English to Italian ap on your phone so you can speak a few phrases or let the driver hear the information spoken in Italian. We saw quite a bit considering we had only 2 full days when you consider 1 day to transit in and 1 day transit out. Cobblestones everywhere, so wear sturdy comfortable shoes and watch where you place your feet when you walk. Spent a day at the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, & St. Peter's Basilica. In the future, if time permits, break into 3 half days. We found the back-to-back Vatican Museums exhausting, even if interesting and informative.
