"Not too bad for the price."
My wife and I were very comfortable, but our daughter did not like the comfort of the hide a bed. Next time we will look for a room with two queen beds for our daughters sake.

"Fabulous Staff"
The Santa Barbara Hyatt was the Hotel Mar Monte. This is a quaint old hotel with a great location. The beach is across the street and the Zoo is very close. The hotel and the room were very clean and well maintained. The only negative was the very noisy wall air conditioner. We decided to leave the sliding door to our room open instead and slept great after that. Every staff person we came in contact with was friendly and professional. Be sure to visit the Bistro with Martin in the dinning room and James in the bar.

"Nice place to spend the night"
We stayed one night and weren't in the room very much but when we were there it was very pleasant if a bit cramped. They put a lot of furniture in a rather small space but the big wall of window and sliding glass door helped make the room feel brighter and the breeze the door let in kept away the weird, antiseptic hotel smell some places just can't get rid of. I really liked the louvered windows set up high on the bathroom walls. Left open during a shower, the window kept the bathroom from getting stuffy. I also liked that the quilt on the bed was a cotton quilt rather than one of those strange scratchy polyester wonders I run into in most other hotels I stay in. We were on the ground floor with a large sliding glass door facing the pool courtyard. There were a couple of patio chairs and a little table on a small patio outside the sliding glass door and we did sit there at one point, watching as our 16 month old son piled rocks on the table. One thing to be aware of, they have old fashioned wall heaters and our son couldn't leave it alone. We didn't turn it on and it didn't appear to be dangerous but it is there so if you have kids you know at one point it will become the center of their universe, even if only for a few minutes.  The grounds are well kept, the staff friendly and we didn't have any concerns, questions or comments so our interactions with staff were mostly nods and hellos.  I was disappointed that there wasn't a free continental breakfast but there was fresh fruit in the room, a couple of no charge bottles of water and a tiny bowl with a few pieces of candy. There was also a dorm fridge and a small microwave. The fridge is nice if you need to store baby food, milk and a bottle of wine, which we did. There is also the standard remarkably small coffee maker on a tray with mugs I contemplated stealing because the handles were huge and comfy to hold onto. I did not steal the mugs because that may have led to bad hotel karma and I don't need that.  We didn't eat in the restaurant next to the hotel and my husband described the bar as dreary (hence the bottle of wine). The neighborhood is nice, trader joes's is a quick drive away and so we were well pleased with our experience.

"Heaven is a bit pricey"
Bacara lived up to it's stellar reputation, despite the amount of construction going on. I would definitely stay here again. Got a partial ocean-view room and it was wonderful. Very quiet and peaceful. Can't wait to return!

"We've travelled a lot and I have to say that this is the only place we've been to where ALL of the employees were gracious, friendly and of service."
If you appreciate nature, history, quiet elegance and architechture, you will like this place. If you like golf or relaxing in a beautiful spa with a fireplace and the employees making you feel welcome, then go. If you feel like "there's not enough to do" then stay away and go to Cabo.

"Perfect location at a great price!"
In planning girls weekend in Santa Barbara, I was trying to find a hotel that was on the more inexpensive side, centrally located to all the action on State Street, yet comfortable for four women with all our bags. This place was perfect! The price was totally reasonable and the room was clean and spaceous. We had an amazing weekend and will definitely stay here again next time we visit. :)
