"A Short Stay"
The room was great but we weren't there very much. The restaurant was under rennovation and management but we were near China Town and it was the Chinese New Year, so exploring for food to stay in the spirit was no problem except for breakfast. We walked many blocks to find a sit-down place to eat. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. it was the first time we ever checked in to a hotel at a machine... swipe the credit card and we were checked in. Because of the breakfast situation, we had walked some distance and returned, we thought, a little bit more than an hour early, BUT the seasonal time had changed and that made checkout an hour earlier (forgot to set my watch forward). We could have still made it out on time but the keycard check-out time system locked us out 6 minutes early too early. The hotel staff was very understanding, reset out card so it would work for 15 more minutes. Fortunately, out things we were packed and ready to grab and go. We have never been locked out of a hotel room because of an automated card system that does more than just let us in and out of a room... We appreciated the free bottled water machines in the hotel. There is also as patio on the roof of the hotel where we drank our coffee and looked at the SF Bay and Embarccadero area. In the other direction was the TransAmerica Building only a few blocks away, and the US Immigration and Customs buildings.

"Great hotel. "
Hotel was clean, staff was nice, food was great as well. The only downfall was had to pay for parking which should have been either included or free for hotel guests. Had to pay an extra $175 for the week.

"okay if you get a good room, ask for one "
I know this property very well. I paid extra for a bay view. I had a view but a small window. Maybe because I was given the room behind the elevators? I wasn't too happy with this room but thought it was a good price? I could not check in a single minute early I had to come back after 3 pm. As I was checking out I heard a guest checking in specify "any room but the one behind the elevator". There are 12 floors so I assume 12 such rooms for travelocity price/clients? In the future if I book this hotel via travelocity I will also request that I not be given a room behind the elevator. This room gets noisy with people talking while they wait for the elevators. The room is hidden so I don't think people even realize there is a room right there with it's head board facing the hallway/elevator. Despite wearing the ear plugs provided in the night table I heard a man loudly discuss his business plans with his friend while I tried to sleep in before my long drive to San Diego. There is a parking fee. This is normal for this area. However, the people checking in before me acted very shocked and disappointed. They did have more than one car so this could get pricey.

"The people at Nikko hotel were amazing!!!!"
Everything was GREAT with one exception. I live in N.Y. and apparently I'm not familiar with a "California king bed" when I selected a king size bed I imagined it would be much bigger than the queen I have at home. It was slightly bigger than my queen and much smaller than a "king" sized bed. It was very comfortable though. We passed many hotels during our stay and even stopped in a few of them. This is one of the nicest hotels San Francisco has to offer. I was not impressed with the room service selection but that wasn't a big deal at all. The mini I pad in the room is a nice touch although it didn't work when we tried to order room service with it, as it said we could. As soon as I arrived I was asked if I wanted to upgrade my room for an additional fee per day, best decision! For that extra fee you get breakfast every day in the main restaurant, use of the pool/jacuzzi every day, and a wine/cheese service daily for a few hours. It was worth the extra money and they even moved us to the highest floor which had a great view of the city!!

"Highly recommended"
This is an older hotel that's been nicely updated. It's fun, feels fresh and a bit quirky (in a very good way), and is in a pretty good location overall. This hotel was comfortable and clean, and a is great alternative to the big names and facilities that charge so much more. To us, a hotel is a place to sleep and a location to start your day, not a place to stay during the day. So, we'd prefer to skip the high rates and excesses that come with many other hotels in this area.

"Nice hotel. "
Really liked this stay. The hotel was in a nice location that was quiet and yet had services nearby. Found the staff accommodating and pleasant. Hotel is being upgraded with some painting and work in progress. Elevator was a bit small.

"Decent place, good location."
The Triton is a quirky boutique hotel just at the Chinatown gate and an easy stroll to Union Square. The lobby is artsy with a fireplace, several seating areas, a large screen TV, and interesting view of foot traffic heading in and out of Chinatown. It boasts a complimentary wine happy hour which was a welcome bonus, though I don't think unique for hotels around here. The staff was courteous and helpful. The rooms (at least mine) was small, and I believe that every room has a different decor. Mine had a kitschy bed and wallpaper that was (I think) a Kerouac novel. There was a small bathroom with a shower and a mini bar. I had stayed at the Triton years ago and didn't hesitate to return rather than pay the outrageous price required at my conference hotel a few blocks away. The walk was not onerous and there are many excellent eateries in the area. Complimentary coffee in the morning was a plus. Internet was free if you signed up for the loyalty program. It wasn't all that quiet being at the edge of Chinatown but hey, it's San Francisco.
