"Great location with amazing views!!"
This hotel is an absolutely beautiful historic property in a wonderful location. Our room was smaller than we are used to, but the view and the fact that the windows open up to let in the ocean breeze more than makes up for it. We were a few blocks from the ocean and the seals (a must see!). There are numerous shops and restaurants within walking distance. In addition, the major sites in San Diego were a short drive away. It was nice to spend the day downtown and then return to our quiet retreat in La Jolla. Customer service was great! Thanks to all of the valet guys who assisted us everyday - not only with our car, but with beach chairs, etc to take to the beach for the day. And for asking our son every afternoon about his experience that day - he loved telling his stories to them.

"A pleasurable business conference "
Attending a conference at the Bayfront Hilton was more pleasurable by staying at this nearby 'new-quaint' boutique hotel. The price is nice, and the decor would have been great for a relaxing weekend stay. Loved the quaint quasi-antique bed and furniture, over-toilet water closet with pull chain flusher, combined with good wifi and tv.

"Great hotel in the heart of Downtown San Diego!"
It was my first trip to a beautiful city of San Diego coming from a small town of Wisconsin! As an designer, I was well pleased with great architectural urban design and hospitality of Marriott San Diego - Gas Lamp. Within a walking distance to the historical Gas Lamp District was an awesome experiences with many great foods to choose. I wouldn't mind to go back again in the same district!

"This hotel was very easily accessible!"
This hotel was very conveniently located - my boyfriend and I stayed for 2 days and nights and were able to see a lot of the downtown San Diego area, either on foot or using the nearby trolley. The room was a little smaller than we'd anticipated, but it was nicely furnished and the bed pillows were AMAZINGLY comfortable! The view from the room was not as awesome as we'd expected (no balcony, either); we felt like the pictures made it look a bit closer to the water, but we still had sight of the bay. The first night was great - clean, quiet, and relaxing. We could hear our next door "neighbor" playing music the next morning while showering very clearly through the door, and the second night, the new "neighbors" who were staying there had a screaming child in their room, who we could also unfortunately hear quite loud and clear. That was rather annoying. Finally, we had breakfast downstairs in the cafe the first morning and felt that it was a bit overpriced for the quality of food, so we opted to eat breakfast at the Pappalecco's down the road the next morning - a MUCH more delicious alternative! Overall, it was decent for the price and we still enjoyed our stay.

"We should have been told about the remodeling"
Well, the pictures online of the beautiful hotel and restaurant was the reason I chose this site to celebrate my husbands birthday. However, we were never informed of the fact that the hotel was being remodeled and that we would not have access to anyting but our room. Even the lobby was blocked off. It wasn't the weekend I had envisioned for the first time we have been able to get away in 4 years.

"The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"
First, the good. The hotel location on the bay cannot be beat! After arriving, we took a short walk on the promenade, saw some crabs on the rocks, and took a ferry ride over to Coronado. We walked around Seaport Village and had a chocolate covered apple and browsed in a few shops. On the way back, we ate at Joe's Crab Shack. Ok, now for the bad. After reading other reviews, I knew we would be asked about upgrading to a bayfront view. When I originally booked, I chose a bridge view. But, after arriving, we were offered the $20 upgrade to a bayfront/city view, so we went for it. We were put in room 1109 and were told that the big Comic Con sign on the side of the building would not block our view. Got to the room and there was the big black screen blocking our view. Went back to front desk and moved to room 1865. Beautiful corner room with windows all around! In my opinion, the bridge side would be nice too. The Dole plant had a huge ship there which was kind of cool to see. The Ugly-after a long day at the beach, we came back to find the AC is broken. We had to move rooms again! Note, this was our third time moving rooms. It wouldn't have been so bad, but it took them forever to bring the key. It was midnight, and we had to do this with our young son. Finally, get in room, and found urine in the toilet, a cup filled with old coffee, garbage, and pillows on one bed smashed down like someone had been laying there. Eww! Manager comped one night, but still...

"Gaslamp suite stay"
We have stayed there during a conference in the convention center, it was 10 min walk from there, it's in the middle of shopping area, & restaurants. The hotel looks old when you see the entrance, but the room where we stayed was clean it has all the basic necessities that we need, there is a kitchenette with microwave, fridge and kitchen utensils. We also enjoyed breakfast in the rooftop. You can see a nice city view from there. They have big windows as well overlooking the streets, the parking is near and accessible. You have to pay 32$/day. It's better to do that than pay the fine by parking on the streets because of sweeping schedule. Overall it was a pleasant experience. my kid left her Ipad and they had called us right away when they found it.
