"Fantastic ambiance and location!"
We came to San Antonio for a family reunion and rather than stay at the generic Marriott where it was being held, I opted for something different. San Antonio is a historic city and I wanted an historic hotel. The Riverwalk Vista did not disappoint . In a building dating from the late 1800's, right across from the Riverwalk ( and several restaurants) , 2 blocks from the Alamo and 4 blocks from our reunion, it had the perfect location. It was walking distance to most everything. Our room had a lovely view of the SkyTower and on the 4th we had a great seat for fireworks. The small size of the hotel gave it great intimacy and the staff was wonderful, friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious with exposed brick walls, tall ceilings and wood floors. The slate shower was a dream. The only drawback was the street noise since its located at the juncture of two busy streets. However, the double paned windows and sound machine made it possible for us to sleep soundly. The continental breakfast each morning was a nice plus. When we return to San Antonio for another visit, the Riverwalk Vista will be our first choice for a place to stay.

"Victorian hotel with a lot of history"
This is an old Victorian style hotel, so don't expect large rooms as standard fare. However, the rooms are very clean with modern furnishings. A great place to stay if you want a mix of good service, downtown convenience, and history. It would be best experienced with at least a 2-3 night stay.

"O.k., food pricey"
One thinks if they are staying at a Hilton they should get the best, that used to be how it was, not so much any more. The room was o.k. but not the best I've been in. I upgraded to a river view, don't waste your money. Yes, you get a "view" of the river but I also go a more than a view of a huge water tower and could barely see the river through the trees. I also upgraded to a King room thinking I would get more room, don't bother. There is no tub, just a shower in the king room. I might could live with that but there is also no door on the bathroom. Let me rephrase that, there is a door that slides across both the bathroom and the closet so you can either have the closet door closed or the bathroom door closed. Not acceptable, I shouldn't have to choose. There is also a timer on the bathroom light, I was using the shower on pulse to massage my aching shoulders after a long day and in the middle of my shower, the bathroom light goes out. Here I am, 6 am in the shower in the dark. I'm completely night blind so getting out of the shower and feeling my way over to the light switch was an adventure. The food and drinks were way overpriced. It never costed me less than $20 for breakfast, no matter what I ordered, that included a continental breakfast. I had one glass of wine at the bar and it was $12 without the tip, for a glass of California wine? Really? The Irish pub was no better. The hotel is in a good location, right in the middle of downtown and close to everything. I stayed in another hotel downtown on a previous trip, paid less for the room, had a suite and paid less for food. The room was clean and the staff seemed friendly enough. I loved the fitness room but the pool was a joke, there weren't enough chairs unless you got there very early, I think there were only 4 or 5 up there. All in all it was just o.k. not what I've come to expect from a hotel of this price.

"Great Location"
A hotel with historic character. The room was very clean, with the usual amenities, iron, board, hairdryer, tv, cable. The king bed was comfortable and the a/c worked very well. There was in-room included open wifi, a much needed service. Hot breakfast included scrambled eggs, refried beans, ham, waflles, yogurt, fruit, bagels, juice, coffe and others. It is across the street from the Riverwalk Shopping Center on one side and Alamo Plaza on the other, very convenient.

"They even had an elevator attendant!"
I stayed here for spring break and it was so nice! It was within walking distance from the Riverwalk and all the cool things in San Antonio! The rooms were gorgeous and the beds were comfy! This hotel even had a really nice elevator attendant who would give out mints and tell fun facts about San Antonio! Even the carpets are infused with coconut oil! I highly recommend staying here!

"Priced for convenience"
I arrived around 9:30am.  I realized this would be to early to check in so I thought I would check my bag and enjoy the riverwalk.  When I told the bellman this, he said let's see if they have a room ready.  We went to the front and to my surprise, they checked me in.  All before 9:30!  The location could not be beat.  Right the riverwalk and walking distance to the Alamodome and all downtown attractions.  It's an older lady of a hotel, but still turns a few heads.

"Great Rooms, Great location and fair price"
Stayed on a recent auto trip to SanAntonio, Hill Country and Austin. Hotel recommended on Trip Advisor. It was a bargain on a weekend compared to others on the Riverwalk. It is exactly 1 block from the Riverwalk so easy access. There is a city parking garage one block further down Houston Street where the charge is $10 (or less) per day, thus avoiding the $25 valet parking at the hotel. Rooms are way above average. Bathroom and shower are huge. Spouse can sleep while you are using bathroom comfortably. We have stayed in Towne Place Suites before and love them. Great value. Breakfast was better than most hotel breakfasts but they all get old after a while.
