"Great Family Stay"
stayed here with my 3 children 7-10.4.2012, and we had a lovely time. The connecting rooms were perfect for the 4 of us, balcony was great, and I don't think my 13 year-old has ever eaten so much at breakfast. And even my 15-year-old left the table feeling he can cope for a few hours before the next meal... Once you get to know your surroundings the location of the hotel is great: far enough from the centre to be peaceful, but still within walking distance. Rome is all about walking. You wouldn't want to miss a thing. We walked to the centre and usually took a taxi back in the evening (7-12 Euros). Close by is a sweet ice cream place, supermarket, and a lovely family restaurant in a Hotel just behind the Cardinal. This is great for families!

"This hotel is fabulous"
I think the hotel is a bit pricey for a family vacation, but we used our HHonors points to book our 4-night stay. The hotel is fabulous. The room was exactly as described: it was large, clean, and quite comfortable. The bed was the best I have ever had in a hotel. The staff was nice and always helpful. The hotel itself was beautiful. The shuttle into the city was convenient and always on time. Being a HHonors gold member, we had access to the Colosseo Lounge where the nightly snacks and alcohol were delicious and plentiful. The free breakfast buffet was tremendous. On our second and third night, we were given access to the Imperial Lounge on the 7th floor. The views are spectacular. The food selection was varied and so plentiful that you couldn't sample it all. Again, the alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks were varied and endless. We went to Rome to celebrate our 25th anniversary, and we took two friends with us. It was their first trip to Rome, and they were blown away with the hotel. Words cannot express how pleased we were with the hotel and our trip overall. Bravo, Rome Cavalieri!

"Awesome Service - great location!"
I have traveled to Rome a number of times and have the choice to stay at whatever Rome location I choose and I choose the Westin Excelsior hotel each and every time. From the reservation assistance through checkout I have only high praise. The hotel facilities are elegant with very comfortable rooms. The hotel offers all amenities one could desire whether on business travel or personal vacation. The location of the hotel is in a very desirable area of Rome within easy walking distance to major tourist sites or, if desired, the Rome metro. If you're looking for a a place to feel very special and in a location close to all the major sites choose the Westin Excelsior hotel in Rome.

"Awesome boutique hotel in the middle of everything"
This hotel was really great overall. It was within a short walking distance to many of the sites (Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, Villa Borghese). The metro was down the block so you could go further in a few short minutes (Colosseum, Vatican). There were multiple ATM machines a block away. There were many excellent restaurants close by. The staff was very nice and helpful in booking reservations to restaurants and showing you how to get around. Despite the restaurant/bar on the premises and Hard Rock Cafe up the block, the room was very quiet. The decor of the hotel and rooms could be described as antique elegant. Each room even had it's own doorbell. The furniture was mostly white, but very elegant and refined. We considered another hotel near Villa Borghese that seemed to have similar overall ratings, amenities, location, but what tipped us overs the free wi-fi throughout the hotel. Using FaceTime helped to save a lot of money with phone calls home and we had no issues with connectivity inside the room at all. Overall, we highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Grand Hotel De La Minerve

Piazza Della Minerva 69, Rome - Map

"Could almost reach out the window and touch the Pantheon"
The Grand Hotel was indeed grand. To get to the entrance, you pass through the little Piazza Della Minerva that has a Bernini elephant in the middle, with an obelisk on it's back. The hotel is a warm yellow color, like lemon meringue, with mint green wooden window shutters. The lobby has cool marble floors, colorful stained glass ceilings, and Roman arches framing marble statues. The staff was friendly and upon our request, immediately upgraded our room (at no additional cost) to one with a view of the Pantheon. The room was large and airy and filled with sunlight. Despite the central location it was quiet, as instead of a busy street out front you had the piazza. The bed was large and luxurious- big enough for 3 or 4 people. The bathroom had lovely Bulgari lotions and shampoos and plenty of fluffy white towels. To use the internet you had to bring your own laptop down to the lobby which was a bit odd, and the business center was apparently out of order which was a hassle. The rooftop terrace had stunning views and amazing food. It was the perfect, romantic dinner spot on a beautiful July evening. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience. It was amazing to look out the window and almost be able to touch the Pantheon. You literally felt like you were in the heart of Rome. The hotel is very expensive, but if you're looking for a relaxing and luxurious place to stay within easy distance of all the main sites, this is it.
