Rude staff member at check-in. Needed to return to front desk to ask for different room, because I was put in a room with an adjoining door where someone was smoking (in a "non-smoking" hotel) and blaring television; this was in a nearly empty hotel. After put into a new room, had to go back to front desk again because the key card didn't work, which they blamed on it being cold. Two staff members were loudly arguing with a guest about having to sign in. Thoroughly unprofessional experience.

The check-in staff was offensive to my husband, requiring a copy of his credit card for "possible damages" such as "getting drunk and throwing up on the bed" or "fighting with wife and breaking something." Seriously? Why would anyone say such things to a guest? "It's discrimination if I don't treat all guests the same." Again, SERIOUSLY?? There was no elevator to the 2nd floor (husband had a bad knee at the time). Wall in our room had a few holes in the plaster; the light switches (COVID contact areas) were dirty; cable ran in, through, & out a wall; filthy upholstery on the chair & ottoman. However, the bed was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was decent. The staff working the breakfast was friendly as was the morning desk clerk. The eggs were too salty for my taste (but not for my husband). The price was appealing, which is why we booked online while on the road, though I likely would not have booked the room had I seen the rundown stairways. Although the view at breakfast was beautiful, I would likely spend a bit more next time and go to a different hotel. In fact, the following night while still traveling, we didn't even consider looking for a Quality Inn.
