"beautiful surroundings"
beautiful lagoon and boat ride around the area. The beach never lived up to the pictures on our trip but it may have just been the timing. We came right after heavy rains and the crew could not keep up with all the sea kelp that came ashore and in the shallows. My daughter was disappointed with that. The service was overall very good but there were a few episodes of mild rudeness. Not enough to affect the trip. I did find it curious that every time in the restaurant or at the pool/beach they were always out of the cheapest two wines but never the more expensive ones!

"Paradise"
This was our third trip to Banyan Tree and we still love it.  Everything about this resort was outstanding.  The villa, lobby, and grounds were all beautiful. The food was delicious, and every single person working there was more than friendly.  We loved having a private pool in the villa.  We will definitely be going back again.

"Wonderful time"
We had a great time. The food was fabulous at the buffets or at the a la carte restaurants, you could always find something you like. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. Johnny on the Entertainment Staff was great in trying to get you to participant in the activities and would remember your name and where you were from and would alway greet you when you walk by him. Saul, Gasprer, and Elmer from the pool bar were all fabulous. They all would remember what we were drinking that day. The grounds were very large and nice, a little confusing at first but you do master it. The room could use a table and chairs or a small couch, 1 chair and the bed was the only thing you could sit on in your room, and lighting in the bathroom a little brighter. The sales people for the time shares or try to talk ou to upgrade are a little pushy at first but tell them no, not interested, I am on vacation they left us alone. Overall the resort was great.

We had a great experience. Stayed on a roof top terrace and received amazing service from the excellence club. Friendly, attentive staff. Various food options. Great spa packages. Multiple different activities/tours to choose from. Safe resort. Plenty of pool/beach loungers. Clean room and good room service/house keeping -Only negative: The ocean water brings in a lot of kelp/seaweed making the water not very clear and difficult to swim in

"Great Place."
This was the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff was gracious and welcoming. The food was good, the beach was amazing. I would go again. What I would not do is go to downtown Playa del Carmen. Every step you are bombarded from vendors wanting to get you into their shops to spend dollars. They lie-"Hey remember me I was your waiter last night?" Other than that part, a perfect trip.

"Traveling with the kids"
We stayed here last week, for 8 nights. We have stayed in several all-inclusives, including the Grand Velas in Puerto Vallarta. There were four of us, including two kids 8 and 10 years old. First the good: - Best pool I have ever seen. Huge, and perfect for the kids to play in, which they did for 6 hours every day. Beautiful infinite pools, and nice swim up bar, right up to the ocean. The only pool that compares to this is the Grand Velas in Puerto Vallarta. No slides or anything, but the kids still loved it. We never had a hard time getting a chair, but more on that later. -Best food you will ever have at an all-inclusive. 5 star food all of the way, many courses, and you feel like you are eating at the fanciest restaurant in your town, every night. Kids menus at the restaurants that allow kids. I thought is was nice to have some restaurants that do not allow kids, nice to be just my husband and me, and send them to the kids club. -rooms are a good size, with a big patio, that we hung out at a lot. We had a great ocean view that was perfect. Good mini bar that they restock every day, and they will put in things you like, if asked. - great service everywhere, loved Julio at the swim up bar. Always remembered the kids, and made them ask for things in spanish, which was a great way for them to learn. -we were upgraded to the ambassador section, because they were doing some work at the Zen, so glad we were. Nice to be near everything. We did see the Zen section, still very nice, but you would get the jungle feel, and no ocean views at all. Bigger kids club though, which might be nice, if it were busier. Things that were just ok: -No one was there the first week of June. Don't know why. The prices are high, but worth it, and the place was only at 15% capacity, so nice to always get your chairs and reservations, but would have been better to have bit more going on. - there were a few other kids there, but my kids connected with none, like they have at other resorts, so boring for them on that regard. The kids club did none of their scheduled activities, so it was just a place for them to hang out and play xbox, while we went to dinner -Nothing going on at night at all, no music, no bar happenings, nothing. I don't want a raging party, but it would have been nice to have something. I know the place wasn't full, but I wish there was something to do after 9:00. -The rooms are nice, but loud, you can hear everything going on in the bathroom, which isn't always good. The beds are comfortable, but I prefer the rooms at the Grand Velas in Puerto Vallarta. There are two bathrooms in the rooms, and the bedroom area is shut off with a door, so really nice. I was hoping for that here. -the beach itself is nice, with fine white sand, but no place to actually play in the ocean. You can walk 10 minutes either side to do that, but nicer, if it were just in front. Such a great pool, so that helped. Over all really great, we had a nice time, and will probably be back. I think if we were there at a different time of year, I would have all raves.

Great hotel staff with very clean rooms. The beach had tons of sea weed on it due to the storm before we got there, but the staff was pack8ng it away as fast as it got there. The food at every restaraunt, just couldnt eat as much as there was. Met all the great Chefs including the executive chef from Germany. Great place, just make sure they call your cab for the airport when u ask and a can os $45.00 to a resort from airport or airport to resort up to 4people not a dollar more.
