"Beautiful Beach, Fun Friends Best Features"
First visit to Punta Cana, blindly chose resort by reviews and budget. Resort is nice, room a bit musty but I was prepared by previous reviews. Staff was either really nice and accommodating or not and about 80% of them were really nice:) Arrived at night which was good because first impression arriving is not a fair representation. All food and drink was fine, not excellent except for the bread at breakfast and the coffee...yummy!! What made this resort a place we may want to return to was the beach....B E A utiful, the non stop flow of Presidente, the prospect of maybe staying in one of the suites that has it's own infinity pool and saving the best for last, the friendly American guests:)  Something about being a minority and finding your homies that makes everything more fun. I will make special note that the adult side was perfect atmosphere for me and my husband.  We ventured over to the other side once and that was fine we really didn;t need to leave our side to enjoy ourselves.  There is not a resort on either side of the place which made for nice quiet walks down natural beach front.   We are a tad suspect regarding the cleanliness of the front pool, restroom aroma nearby was way too reminiscent of the outhouse at the campground we used to visit when I was a child.  The infinity pool close to the beach was soooo lovely, for quiet time the swim up bar was at the toilet pool:) If you are looking for that 5 star experience that makes me go "wow" at every turn this is not it but if you make it there you cannot help but be grateful for the accommodations, food and experience.

"Beautiful resort"
Stayed here recently for 5 days. Beautiful resort. Nicely laid out. Very walkable front to back. The pool meanders through the resort so there is always a lot of privacy and always a pool view. The beach is fabulous! Lots of palapas and trees to find shade if you so desire. Never had a problem finding an empty chair in either location. No running down to place your towel on a chair first thing in the morning. The room was very comfortable, but the beds a little on the firm side. Was always cleaned promptly and well. The blow dryer gave out one night. The next morning I stopped by the front desk to tell them about it. I had barely walked back to my room when the the man arrived to replace it. Now that was service! The staff everywhere was friendly and attentive. Went to the show one night and it was good. Don't expect a Vegas production show. But was worth attending. Also visited the casino. $5 tables and good dealers. The food was ok but not great. We didn't starve and we didn't get sick. The best restaurant was the Japanese. We didn't do the cooking show thing, so therefore didn't need a reservation. And the food there was the best we had. The average food was the only reason I gave this resort 4 stars. We did not opt for staying in the adults only side and I am glad we did not pay the extra money. There were some children around but not really annoying. As I said the pool winds around so you aren't always looking at everyone else.

"PERFECTION!"
We were married on the resort in 2007 and went to another Big Resort for our Honeymoon. After 2 days at the other resort we called Tortuga Bay to have them pick us up and bring us back. We got married at The Punta Cana Hotel and spent our honeymoon in Tortuga Bay. I say without hesitation that it is the best vacation experience I have ever had. This is what its like to vacation like royalty. Everything here was top shelf. The Staff from Top to below is Amazing, The rooms are perfect and the service is incredible. It's not the place to be if you want to "Raise The Roof". For a Quiet, peaceful and Supremely relaxing and Romantic trip, This Is the finest place I know of. My bride and I travel often and Stay at The Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons of The World and this is Definitely a place we dream about!!!! If you're on your way there, You Are Blessed!!!!

"Good stay if you get a good deal. "
Okay I have a lot to say, so bear with me, but for those of you with short attention spans, here's the summary: We got a Groupon deal, so we put up with things. The food is decent but nothing to write home about The resort/beach overall were clean and quiet Now the nitty-gritty: Don't bother exchanging money! Everywhere you go accepts American money. Don't bother tipping the staff who service the buffet! We made this mistake and the service was not one ounce better for it. The waiters (any one of them, we had many) take FOREVER to bring you anything. Better know some Spanish because NO EMPLOYEE can speak decent English. I was appalled at how little English they knew. The buffet is okay, but don't expect great food. If you don't get to breakfast/lunch right when they put it out, it gets congealed and stale- they don't "refresh" any platters. Book dinner at the restaurants (they are included but you need reservations) as soon as you get there! Don't wait till the next day or you'll eat at 10pm. The maids don't clean the rooms until very late in the day (2-6pm), so if you're planning to nap that stinks. Don't get sucked into the excursions! But discounted tickets before you come, it's crazy expensive. Don't bother with the evening "shows" for entertainment, they are boring and the dancers are a joke- go to the casino. And lastly, there is NO REAL orange juice! If you ask for a mixed drink that should have OJ, you will get a gross orange "juice" (looks like flat orange soda)

"Felt like Paradise!"
My spouse and I needed a kid free getaway to unwind and relax. We are totally satisfied with our decision to stay at the Paridisus Palma Real, and will definitely consider staying there again. Our stay exceeded our expectations. Bolivar Guzman our concierge was very pleasant, helpful and accommodating....he's the best. Isabel and the other masseuse (sorry we forgot her name) did wonders for us at the Yhi spa. The room was spacious, clean and well designed. The food at the buffet was excellent, and was actually better than the food at we had at the resort restaurants. I guess because it is all inclusive the menu selection at the restaurants are limited. We enjoyed the variety and quality of food for breakfast and lunch, and looked forward to those meals everday. The staff overall was very friendly and attentive. Our mini bar in the room was restocked daily. It took us one day to find our drink of choice which was the Rum Punch....best drink ever....we had it daily for lunch and dinner. The night events were very entertaining, especially the Michael Jackson night. The casino is small but was adequate for the amount of guests on site. Roulette became my favorite game. So obviously like most resorts they have a vacation club. So we were convinced to go to a meeting to hear about the vacation club. They were a little misleading, by telling us that they don't sell anything it is purely informational, and will only last up to 90 minutes. Well our sales advisor was Abraham, he was very nice, down to earth and informative. He took us to see the members only facilities/services. The breakfast and presentation lasted about 3 hours, we were so exhausted afterwards and had to go back to our room to take a nap. In the end we did not go on vacation to be prepared to join a vacation club that will cost upwards of $20-$30K. We still appreciated the Spa discount, which took $100 off of our spa cost and the casino credits. The other coupons/credits we didn't use (i.e. room upgrade and wine). We also got a voucher to eat at the Gabi Beach restaurant, which we expected to be great since it is not part of the inclusive package......we would have preferred eating at the buffet....it was not all that. So all in all, it was a great experience, we love the resort, and will definitely stay again if we go to Punta Cana, and would also consider other Melia hotels at other locations.

"Beautiful hotel that is great for families"
We enjoyed our stay at Barcelo Bavaro Palace. It is a beautiful hotel and resort. Overall we enjoyed the experience, including the food, swimming, beach setting and activities. Our favorite meals were in the seafood restaurant and steakhouse. We chose the grilled lobster, shrimp tempura at the Seafood restaurant and the ribeye steak and short ribs at the steakhouse. We also ate at the spanish restaurant and had paella and the japanese restaurant and had a variety of sushi items. We chose a few excursions that we enjoyed...the marinarium and the adventure park. My husband was given the wrong wristband at the adventure park however, and the staff would not honor the package we paid for. The problem was not resolved to our satisfaction. The excursion was made with a travelocity partner and not through the resort. Our room was on the golf course side, requiring a short walk to the pools. The benefit was waking up to a quiet morning and great views. We planned this trip so that we would have warm weather, no housework and fun. It was a great trip.

"Good but could be better..."
Overall our experience was good. Let me start with the negatives. After an hour of being in our room we developed a leak over the Jacuzzi and from the air conditioning system. We called the front desk and it took forever for someone to come check it out. Even after someone came the leaks still continued all weekend long. We never got to use the Jacuzzi and that was disappointing. The hotel needs maintenance and a lot of old pipes need to be fixed (hence all the leaks). If you go to the privileged side (which we did when they tried to get us to purchase their version of a time share) You will see that it is beautiful and very well maintained. It’s sad that they don’t put as much effort and money into the regular side as they do the privileged, more people would be happier when they left. The 24 hour snack bar wasn’t good they had French fries and chicken in the oven that wasn’t fresh. The casino is dated and a lot of the machines weren’t working, but we did manage to win $50 so that was a plus. Now to the positives we were greeted by all the staff upon arrival and got our “welcome drink” (which was delicious) We met a nice man by the name of Alejandro (he is truly one of the nicest people I have ever met) He told us everything we needed to know upon arrival and assured us if we needed anything to let him know (and we did and he was more than happy to help). The rest of the staff were equally as nice from the maintenance people, maids, bartenders, entertainers etc. The buffets were good for breakfast and lunch. The Japanese restaurant was okay (not what we expected), The steakhouse was amazing as well as the Italian restaurant (my favorites) and the drinks were good too. The pool area was great (but the chairs are old) it was clean and well taken care of and the swim up bar was awesome! The entertainment was great, they really worked hard to keep everyone entertained and happy. The disco was fun but they played the same music every night and by the last night I knew the routines. We met Jacqueline for breakfast to go over the whole time share plan and her partner Fernando (later on) who showed us the privileged side in regards to their version of a time share. What I loved about them was that they weren’t pushy and didn’t try to sell something that wasn’t realistic they tried to work with us but we just weren’t ready to make a commitment. Maybe next time because we definitely plan on returning BUT staying on the privileged side now that we know it is the better side. I would like to Thank everyone who tried and made our stay one to remember.
